dont think cubs are best for starting young terriers on ive seen a few good dogs made to look a fool in an earth full of cubs. and what about the vixen in residence she wont just sit back and let the dog bay at her when she has young cubs behind her she will push and test the dog to the max so id rather enter a terrier in the autumn when the adult cubs are in an earth on there own they wont know the score and neither will the pup so its a fair sporting chance for all not a pup mutilating a litter of cubs which he could eat in a second (thats if he can get to the cubs or if the vixens out) jmo

well maybe it wasnt montys fault but in his book work them hard he blames monty and praises vicky up to the hilt so if he bred the dogs and worked them i think he would have a fair idea of wat ruined it and wat didnt

if i were you i would fine some terriers from similar blood and suitable working type to suit you and breed them together to form your own strain. you may not get workers from these. but supposing u do u can then breed for say three line breedings and one good out cross. but becarefull with your out cross it may produce one good litter but what about there litters d harcombe ruined one of his strains with a bad out cross to monty a red parks bred dog. so then say ur outcross works you used the same stud over two bitches u now have two litters of half brother sisters this is the mating N steven
