  1. We've had 4 lads this season and not one has stuck the work One lad had completed his 2 year course at plump ton and couldn't tell the difference between partridge and pheasant Other said the hours we work are illegal and another lasted 3 hours We'll see how long the fourth lasts but he's undecided on being a keeper or not yet
  2. hi I'm after a labrador not botherd by kc breeding or field blood just a pup or older dog will be used for dogging in or if its steady in a beating line not looking to spend silly money im in East Sussex

  4. All I did was dog them off every morning as soon as they came down off roost so early starts dog them off every evening and [BANNED TEXT] the moon was right pushed them off during the night was hard work and had to sneak about a lot due to it being a boundary but all payed off [BANNED TEXT] on shoot days guns were happy Luckily I don't have that problem now but it'll come in handy if I move on Any one can look good on easy shoots but when the hard work comes in on big shoots that's when your true lads shine. Eg downton castle has gone down hill cuz the main man left and other blokes didn't
  5. Don't be bitter just cuz your another wannabe that thinks the world owes them a decent job
  6. That's all well and good in an ideal situation what about when the birds want too roost were you can't put a realease pen ie over a river of boundary stream tell me how you'll get round that seeing as you no so much for a lad who can't hack it
  7. Get a meter and put it in the pipe will tell you exactly how much to pay then. Last estate I was on we plumbed the whole estate in for 500 quid that was 16 pens
  8. If it's all you want to do you'd have stuck at it been in your exact shoes and stuck it now being offered decent jobs up and down the country For a few years being skint and living off my folks all pays off. Run along dreamer it's a long way to the top and you've allready jumped off the ladder

  10. Another wannabe. Your 18 not 30 you take what jobs are open to you. [BANNED TEXT] I was 18 I lived in a single axle caravan and earnt quid a week It's commercial shooting your there to do a job not there to have time off and parade about telling every one your a gamekeeper seen plenty of lads come and go all for same reason can't hack the work.

  16. It's not all walk round and shoot things and drive round on a quad bike. Since the start of rearing last April to now I can honestly say I've only been for a walk round with the gun once. There's always jobs to do and when the chicks are in the brooder hut Lamping goes down the list aswell. I'd have a long hard look at the reality of it before you fall for the romantic image of a gamekeeper
  17. I've had dogs get off the strong stuff couples but the quick release ones. More than once I do had terriers following me down the field when they should be tied up. Luckily never been on a dig as there all in the bike
  18. posts like this would be sound if they said before them. IN MY OPINION. as that is all that is an opinion. ive seen a few dogs that can be called out. i owned one for many seasons. she was a little yapper that could be shouted out. and was very handy indeed. i worked with a lakie that was hard enough to kill the majority of its foxes and did this with ease, he could be dug to and was dug on many occasions . he took a lot of damage over the years due to his hard nature. but he could be held off the lead at an occupied earth untill sent down by comand . he could also be called off on comand.
  19. Watch your fingers when he closes the gun some guns get a bit excited
  20. I've never bred a litter it's wat I was given that turned out shite. I had a few good dogs with the young dog then he went funny so the lad I had him off took him back and have him to some one else he now gets very little work and seems to deal with wat bit he gets
  21. After a crop of young dogs came to worse than useless and my digging bitch died last season and my young dog was taken off me I was wondering if anybody has a terrier or young dog for loan or sale as I have nothing here now and could do with a dog for this season Long shot I know especially at this time of year
  22. Ecent dog. No wonder there's so much rubbish about it's not just dogs that throw you need a decent bitch aswell and not just one or two dotted about on pedigree
