Got a bitch of similar breeding at just under a year old. She turned out at 23/4 " TTS. I will put some pictures up when i get home but im very pleased with her. Very chilled out around the house but one hell of a prey drive. One of the most intelligent dogs I have ever worked with. As I said, will put some pictures up when I can

Milked Up Bitch - Epsom Salts
jhiggins replied to jhiggins's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Thanks you all for the advice Just wondering what the best option is for the bitch? 1) Stop the Epsom Salts and leave her to dry up on her own 2) Use one of the treatments mentioned above? (where would I get them from, vets?) 3) Take her to the vets -
Milked Up Bitch - Epsom Salts
jhiggins replied to jhiggins's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Really don't want to go down the spaying route as she is well bred and my intention was to breed from her. Is it strange for the Milk to only really show in the teets now, so long after the season. Ive been advised to cut back on her exercise until the milk has dried up, is that wrong? I will stop the salts tonight and assess if the milk has gone done a bit. If she has been on them since Sunday night, should the milk have gone if it was going to? Would putting her on the pill prevent this problem in the future. Obviously I'm keen to have her right for the season but not a -
Milked Up Bitch - Epsom Salts
jhiggins replied to jhiggins's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
I thought this might be the case, this is my first bitch so please excuse my ignorance and all the questions What sort of products will help to drive the milk off if it has gone to far for the Epsom Salts to help? Am i right in thinking that if the milk does go hard, I will need to put her on Amoxicilin? What can be done to prevent phantom pregnancy, I have been reading up about a Pill for bitches? Thanks again -
Got a 11 month old lurcher bitch that has become milked up. She had her season back in March/April but the milk has only started to show now. Ive got her on Epsom Salts (1 tea spoon per night) and I have cut her water back a bit. My question is how long should i leave it before the milk should dry up. I know its a bit of a broad question but she has been on the salts since Sunday night and there doesnt seem to be much change The milk is only in the back 4 teets at the moment. I am concerned that the salts have given her the shits bad, like water! The milk does not seem

Is it best to keep them at a trot rather than a canter on the road??
-
Started trotting mine and a mates out the back of the van. Nice and steady at just under 10 mph for a couple of miles. One of us sits out the back of the van to keep an eye on them, works well. Nice long private road near us which is handy. I take mine out on the bike when I can, but dont get out as much as id like due to work!!

Got the number of a Bone person in Essex, off there Saturday morning. Really hope its not serious, think her hips are a bit sore. Ive probably run her a bit too much on this hard ground. Its like concrete down here still. I will keep you posted

Had my 11 month old pup out last night and noticed she wasn't walking / running right at all. She seems to be throwing the back left leg out to the side. She has walked funny in the past but it has never affected her running. I should have got it sorted as soon as I noticed it really. She is clearly not comfortable running so I want to get this sorted asap. Does anyone know of a sensible vet in Kent or near by with a good knowledge of long dogs? Any advice much appreciated Typical that this happens as I am weeks away from cutting the rape near me

Alright lads, 11 month old lurcher pup has started to run and walk strange. She seems to splay out the back leg and is not running at any where near full speed. She has often walked like this in the past but this is the first time it has affected her running. Does anyone know of a good long dog vet in Kent or the surrounding area. Ive put hours into the dog and I dont want this to ruin it. Im hoping her hips are just a bit sore on this hard ground and im hoping the damage isnt permanent. Any advice much appreciated

Ive got a boarder cross dog that used to fit occasionally. Started after he ran into my digger bucket flat out. Used to fit if he got over excited or tried to keep up with my lurcher. Took him to the vets and explained the symptoms. She put it down to epilepsy brought on by the head injury. He is now on meds everyday but the vet assured me that he cannot have a fit whilst on the meds and that it was perfectly safe to continue working him. Had my best season ever with him this year and without any fits at all. I really thought i was going to have to retire him, now i just pay for
