I havent yet mate as i was working on his fitness first but you think i should just crack on with the bunny then mate? also i was at a show on monday and got chatting to a falconer doing a talk and he said i shouldnt get him entered to early as he might get frustrated and put him off not that i was going to follow his advise but it did get me thinking and something i was going to bring up with my mentor over the weekend

The Lad was over today and had his first go at handling it,pleasure too watch it all developing. He had a smile bigger than his face and has all but got the one handed knot sorted out within an hour of trying it. Its been on the scales and had a walk down the village on the boys hand, Im so glad now that we went for a hand reared barny for him. Fair play to you mate glad the lad was made up with his owl all the best mate

Thanks lads will be getting out again tomorrow for some more flying. Hope we get an early winter and some frosts was looking through some photos from last season and i have some from late October pure blue sky, t-shirts on, stingers 2ft high and had the worse dig ever in wiltshire chaulk downs and no rabbits

Just got back from flying Thor it was a bit windy but i couldnt put it off any more so i walked till i found a suitable tree but first i put him on a post and just done a quick jump to the fist then took his mews jesses off and left him on the post and walked off and called him and he just looked at his feet then looked at me then back at his feet and came straight to the fist he 100% knew he was free. So then i sent him off to a tree about 15ft up and again came straight back then he flew to the top of the tree which was about 25/30ft and again came straight back to say i felt relieved would

Right, tomorrow is the day to free Thor his weight is good the weather looks good all the preparation is done and gone really well so fingers crossed tomorrow will go well to. Will let you all know how it all goes.

D day soon mate weather permiting , you could give him some short rations the day before the big day or perhaps fly him a hour later than normal to make him slightly keener. also Saxon try not to hold him back too long mate as they soon get bored which can induce a bird to start calling, I'm not saying yours will but some people hold them back on the creance for weeks on end.......... alright mate i have been a bit worried about holding him back but if it aint raining its windy so ive been getting out inbetween breaks in the weather. cheers lads just waiting for the right day with the weather i do feel he is ready now but if the conditions aint right then he will stay on the creance. I took him out this afternoon but he was a bit heavy at 1lb 5 1/2oz and there was a stiff breeze but i wanted just to get him out and he responded well but a few times he made off for the trees from the perch when the wind picked up in his face so i just gently but the breaks on to bring him down softly. The first time i had to get right in front of him to get him back on the glove from the grass but the 2nd time i was about 20m away from hi

cheers lads, i would like him a bit lighter for when i let him free gave him a good feed and im getting his weight down now ready for the big day hopefully over the weekend but i want to show him the dummy bunny before i do and see if he will respond to it. It has been exhausting to be honest but enjoyable as i said before all i think about at the moment is doing his training, planning my next move and so on but its paying off now. Got Thor flying the length of the creance this afternoon at 1lb 5 1/4oz responding straight away but then he kept leaving his perch before i had turn round to call him wasnt to sure how to deal with this so just returned him to the perch with no food. Looks like the weather is meant to be bad with local flooding all week or i would let him go free this week so looks like ill have to put it on hold a few more days.
