A very good mate of mine from Down South owned 'Ghost'..... he bought him of J Davies for quite a sum back then.... 'Ghost' died a couple of years ago now. I will give my mate a ring and try to find out how he was bred. One thing i do know though is 'Ghost' was one ugly f*cker

Sorry mate but you couldn't be further from the truth. I've explained this on numerous threads, till I'm blue in the face. I'll put it this way, chuck a mug full of yellow marbles into a bucket, then one of blue , followed by one of green, finish off with four mugs of red. Now give 'em a good stir, close your eyes and one marble at a time refill a few mugs , then tell me you've got the same percentage of each colour in each mug. One of the best ways i have ever heard explaining genetics/percentages....... call it what you want. Another thing..... In Humans where multiple Births oc

Your not wrong there..... Myself and Matt 241075 off here have 2 Litter Sisters and they look nothing at all like each other...... never in a Million Years would you think they were litter Sisters. Dam: Bedlington x 1ST Cross Whippet/Greyhound Sire: 3/4 Greyhound 1/8 Border 1/8 Bearded Collie My Bitch is very Rough Coated like a Bearded Collie type and Matts Bitch is Smooth Coated and very much like a Whippet/Greyhound type. Lurcher to Lurcher...... the Litter will vary a great deal unless 2 Dogs from a TRUE LINE are mated together.

Yeh.....used them for years but the sealed unit was a pain in the arse..... Bulbs were a major let down of a very good lamp and not the cheapest to replace either.

Some really nice pic's there RFYL Never worked Sand before..... i bet it can be a right pain in the arse Some Lads need to travel abit to realise how different the Digging is in some parts of this Island of ours. I take my hat off to those Lads who work the BIG DEEP Chalk ones..... Jesus, those Rabbits can take some shifting

Well said runforyourlife.... never a truer word spoken People have different opinions on what they like. I like the Dog to 'HOLD' the Rabbit in the Net ( There is a VAST difference between HOLDING/GUARDING the Rabbit and a Dog that smashes into a Rabbit in the Net.... the type where it turns into some kind of WWF Wrestling Bout just to get the Rabbit and Net from down the Dogs throat ) at the end of the day..... a Dog can get there far far quicker than you can. I like the Dog to find it's own spot..... it can hear what is going on under the Turf far better than i can. I agree wi

Could of done with you and your Stinkers on Saturday Matt..... that little Wood i was on about was one continuous Set Three Lads were a NO SHOW.....had back problems, could'nt peel the mattress off it Longnetted the full perimeter of the Wood and used all the Stop Nets inside the Wood. We tried to Ferret it in stages as best we could but with just the 3 of us.... it was hard work..... would of been a doddle with a couple of more Lads and there ' Teams ' of Stinkers to keep the Rabbits on the move. We done well considering..... the poor Stinkers put some Miles in between them, i

A morning ferreting with the lads

Spot on Steve..... i would sooner gouge out my own f*cking eyeballs with a rusty Fork than watch the sh*te thats on T.V ie. X Factor, Jungle get me out of here. My Ferreting partners Lad loves a day out with the Stinkers..... he has no interest at all in all that X-Box stuff..... he loves to be out Ferreting..... still not quick enough though to beat this ' slap head ' to a Rabbit -
Spot on..... A Dogs Hearing is far far superior to ours and will often follow the action going on underneath his/her feet ( I wonder if they also feel the vibrations ) Yes..... a young Dog will sometimes ' go in ' to early for a Rabbit when it is just sat inside the mouth of the hole unsure whether to bolt or not :hmm: they soon learn to let them cross that ' invisible ' line before going in for a strike..... experience is the only teacher

Master Hunter......Alan Salmon (01980) 610366. Longnets,Stop Nets etc.........

Stubby has hit the nail on the head...get the stinkers in and plenty of them, if ya have to Dig to one Ferret that has a Rabbit bottled up.... it makes no difference if 2 or 3 of his comrades are with him.... the quicker you get the Rabbits on the move the better....

Dark Windy Nights are best but..... if you wait for the ideal nights.... you wont get out to often, just use your common sense. Some Rabbits come out to feed early.... some come out later on.... just get out there and find out for yourself. Just got back from a hour or 2's Lamping myself.... its only a 10/15 minute walk from the house. A couple of the fields are at the back of a Pub Car Park so the Rabbits come out that much later to feed due to the noise.... after 1am the Rabbits are well out and settled. The only way your going to learn the feeding times of the areas you Lamp is to

As people have already stated.... Just because its all kicked out and shite everywhere doesnt mean anything is at home... THIS IS WHERE A GOOD MARKING DOG IS WORTH ITS OWN WEIGHT IN GOLD Had a few hours out on Saturday morning Ferreting a little ditch. We parked the Car up in the Farm Yard and as we got through the gate the Dog gave a good solid mark under a Water Trough.... There was only 1 little hole and the 1st thing that sprung to mind was the Dog must be marking a Rat ???? Dropped a little Jill into the Hole and within seconds it sounded like an earthquake was going on before a Rab

Thats what its all about.... getting out there and doing it..... makes the day even better if you are in like minded company Out myself this morning for a few hours..... mate had a Wedding function to go to Ferreted a little Ditch at the back of the Farm House..... came away with 22 so not to bad for a couple of hours. Ferreting the little Wood there next weekend.... holding a good few Rabbits so hopefully should be in for a good days sport in good company -

Was out with the Stinkers myself yesterday..... started off a glorious morning then the wind got up..... sometimes they Bolt like Rockets and other times..... they decide to slug it out with the Ferret :vava: The wind picked up but the Rabbits kept Bolting all day ....... Alot of the time with reluctant Bolters is THERE IS NOT ENOUGH Ferrets in.... what might look like a small place to us???? could be like a labyrinth under the turf....get the Stinkers in and get them on the move.... We done a little clump of Blackthorn..... 50yard Longnet each side and luckily.... there was a s
