Yes mate got you, I am the same the game shoots limit the land at present but not long to go now, the dogs are the unrewarded ones at this game, cant wait till stevo's tilly is back she makes life so easy, good dogs are the key at this game. Sorry if I am going on just been out for a few beers with my mate who came down from Sheffield, miss them all loads. Your not wrong there Steve.....a marking Dog is a MUST no matter what breed it is unless you want to waste countless hours Netting up and Ferreting un-occupied warrens Seen it on a few posts on here.....Ferreted this and that War

Nice pair of Russells.....that one on the left of the pic (Tan head) is a fine looking stamp
-
Money is not the be all and end all.....i have GAVE lads off this Terriers and to be honest.....each and everyone of them has gone to a 1st class home
-
Well done once again Steve and your Bunny busting crew.....good RELIABLE Lads are hard to find.....plenty talk about it......but rarely practice what they preach.....guard these RELIABLE Lads with your life Your right about the Rabbits in smaller Warrens.....you can cover alot more ground filling the Bag alot quicker than Ferreting the big sprawling places. Out in the morning.....just a mop up job.....had some cracking days on this spot but sadly, you can only catch them once. A few have moved in from the surrounding area and the Farmer wants them gone......so, i will have a mooch a

This is only my personal choice. I use 10z Nylon knitted onto heavy 1 1/4'' Rings with a good heavy Draw cord.....YES its a little more weight to carry but they are a doddle to handle and really hold the Rabbits well.....even in the thickest of cover Pegs.....I get mine made up at a little local Joiners shop......50pence each for good quality shaped/drilled/sanded Hardwood Pegs. I then get an old Sweet Jar and soak the Pegs in Teak Oil for a week or 2......take out to dry and air off......then paint the Tips of the Pegs a bright yellow

Well done Steve......you Lads are keeping them Freezers topped up Hows ' Tilly ' and the Pups???? Hope to follow the progress of one of the Pups if you keep one back

Good little Set up that it's gave me an idea on how to do mine The only thing i would do different is i would Render the outside and paint both in and out with a good masonary paint. A simple but effective way of stopping the piss etc.....clinging to the blocks is to Tile the Toilet area.....B&Q often have them big floor Tiles on sale -
Like this Thats the style of marking i like to Roxy.....you can see the Dogs Eyes burning into the turf and they give you that look as if to say.....come on.......get the Ferrets in This is only my opinion but.....a Dog which doesnt Mark is NOT a Ferreting Dog.....its just a Dog that is taken along Ferreting. It doesnt matter what breed it is......a FERRETING DOG MUST MARK......until i get the scenting powers of a Dog.....the Dog MUST tell me when something is at home. One of the best marking Dogs i have ever seen was a German Shepard/Labrador cross.....even in really deep ol

I will ask Tuggin to put one on for you Fireman......yours and his are like 2 peas in a pod. I havnt had any upto date pics of CH's for a while.....was a fair old lump though
-
Lurcher.....half cross ACD. One of the best marking Dogs i have ever seen was a German Shepard/Labrador.....he had a nose on him like a Bloodhound. Had a very strange way of marking though......he used to cock his leg and piss.
-
Looking well Fireman......can see a look of both of his parents in him......very much like Tuggins Pup

A later start but managed 50 in thick brambles

Well done Stevie&Co. and a well deserved bag -
Matt would of travelled a thousand miles to help you out....no ifs or buts about it.....he's a genuine lad. Matt had left his gear in his van(in for repair) so he rang me late on last night to borrow my gear. On my way out to work this morning i left a Box and Collar and also a next to new Box(15ft) for Matt to GIVE to you. Yes.....the other Ferret may not of stayed with a dead Rabbit BUT.....he would of lingered enough in one spot for you to get a mark with the locator.....you had nothing to loose by dropping a hole. Anyway.........hopefully......you will get her back safe and sound
-
What i cant understand is Matt was going to come up with one of his big Hobs and put him in to locate your Bitch.....the Hob would of found your Jill laid up with her catch straight away.......cant understand why you never took him up on the very kind offer yet you go on about TRENCHING to the Ferret......NO F*CKING need to when another Ferret fitted with a Locator will find it for you......it would of only been a formality to switch the box on,Locate and drop a hole. People were prepared to go out of there way to help you out yet......your Ferret is still to ground when she could be at home
-
Matt will go and help Stroller to locate his Ferret
-
Nobody local to you who has a locator set???? She is probably backed up with a few in a stop end. If i had been driving.....i would of come up with one of mine and dropped it in to help locate yours. Hope you get her back.....GOOD Ferrets are worth there own weight in Gold

It makes the day more enjoyable Steve if you can share a bit of leg pulling etc....with like minded lads  Got a few new places to Ferret once the Pheasants are finished struggled a bit last weekend.....we done a place just to mop up a few stragglers.....hopefully, these new places will provide plenty of sport until the end of the season. Good luck with Tillys litter.....hope ya keep us updated on there progress
-
Dont get me wrong Fireman....he is fairly quick for a 1st cross but.....a Rabbit on fast ground has him well beat.....just lacks that extra yard. I have also seen little flying machines on the Lamp Squeal and Yap enough to wake the Dead Who knows what the future may hold for us both
-
There is a few Lads on this site who have ACD crosses. I am more than happy with mine......very handy Ferreting Dog......steady as a rock around the Longnets etc...not a Dog that has to be peeled off your net Very strong guarding instinct when back on home turf Can only speak of mine.....A Rabbit on fast ground on the Lamp has him well beaten....with him being a 1st cross.....he just has not got the pace
-
I like that little Bitch of yours WR.......she is built like a Brick Sh*thouse Is your mates pup one of those that were on here a while ago?????sure they had Dalmation in them?????
