  1. I can only go off my own Dog but he is really sharp over the 1st 25-30yards which is ideal for Ferreting. Lamping wise???? a Rabbit on short grass has him well beaten....he just hasnt got the pace. I Ferret a Resevoir Full of Gorse/Whin and Thick Blackthorn Clumps and the Dog is lethal in this situation.....he tucks himself in tight and blends in like a Speckled Camellian and hits the Bunnies before they relise whats happening. He is also very handy around the Longnets.....he will grab his Rabbit but he will also herd/push his Rabbit to the Net if it has had to much start on him. Fireman
  2. I have the Litter Brother to Firemans Bitch and i am more than happy with him. I got him for the Ferreting Job and he has turned out ok....he's a handy Dog to have around on a days Ferreting. His temperament is spot on AWAY from home but he DOES change the second his Feet cross the drive back home and thats when his strong Guarding instinct kicks in.
  3. The smallest Ferrets i have ever seen in my life is some i picked up local and took down South for Blind date off here. It might be worth sending him a PM.....he may have a spare Hob are you the nonce? I take it Mr. KEYBOARD Hunter has been spouting his shit again......Why???? Because i have exposed him for the little :wankerzo4: that he is.......he is the bit my Mother SHOULD of swallowed HE is the one who has changed his surname not me......why you ask????? RAPE He assualted a Young Girl underneath some local Flats but sadly......she was to scared to give evidence but th
  4. Yes.....thats right. Mick still has that little Jill. They are tiny.....not my cup of tea at all.......i much prefer the long lean muscular type well capable of killing a Rabbit should it fancy its chances staying put under the turf I got BD his original ones off a Local Bloke who has had this strain years.....he has only ever bred the Albino type but BD got some from another source and now has a coloured strain of these mini Ferrets
  5. The smallest Ferrets i have ever seen in my life is some i picked up local and took down South for Blind date off here. It might be worth sending him a PM.....he may have a spare Hob
  6. 10z Nylon knitted onto 1 1/4inch Rings
  7. Not my cup of tea BUT......sometimes its needed in the management when they are in Big Numbers like that......at the end of the day......Farming etc is a Business and can you imagine that lot eating into your profits. Yes.....it would of been nice to see a GOOD Coursing Dog behind a Hare but no one could take out that number of Hares with a Kennell full of TOP QUALITY Coursing Dogs. It was all about CONTROL.......NOT SPORT......its Business.
  8. Put the lot in.......the quicker you get them Rabbits on the move the better Yes....there is a chance of a Dig or two but the quicker them Rabbits are bolting the better....saves time and reduces the chances of a Dig. Off out shortly myself to Ferret a new piece of permission.....myself and my Ferreting partner will have a Dozen Ferrets out between us. On the Big spots we Ferret together and pile the Ferrets in and get them on the move......had upto the full dozen in some big old places
  9. Just get the Dog out as much as possible.......it will learn nothing stuck at home. As already stated.....Dogs mark in different ways......stare/ some dig/ some try to crawl into the hole.....i even seen one who used to cock his leg and piss. My Young ACD cross just stares at the hole and will look back at me as if to say get the Ferrets in......they are at home. If out with the Terriers and Foxy is at home......same stare but with his hackles up A marking Dog is a MUST regardless of what breed it is for Ferreting otherwise you are going to be constantly Ferreting EMPTY places If
  10. Fair play to ya Steve......you Lads deserve it.....you and your crew are out doing it rather than just talking about it I start that Water Board place at the weekend and now that the Shooting is finished......got to do a few New Farms Will fit as much Ferreting in as possible but i think a few nights with the Longnets is in order if the conditions are right
  11. Well done Lads.....nice to see a fellow smoggy with the Russells
  12. What a stunning looking Animal that is.......shame it had to go. Just a quick Question for you all.......If you Dug it.....would you dispatch it and have it mounted or would you let it run In my younger days i would of dispatched it but now......i would let it run
  13. Well done Steve and crew.....you lads are giving them some stick
  14. Your right there ' Brookie ' I cant understand why Guests are allowed you either stand by what you say or you keep your mouth shut. There is to many Guests and far to many NONE&KEYBOARD HUNTERS on here now Hope you get them back mate safe and sound
  15. cheers mate yeah i use droppers just use a white fantail just to attract birds down As Duckwing has stated......CONTROL the Birds with feeding. Never used my Fantails as droppers BUT.......they are INVALUABLE as Feeders if you want to get the stock out of your BEST PAIRS. I used to Pair the Rollers and Fantails (feeders) up on the same day. Once both the Rollers and Fantails had laid.....i would smash the Fantails eggs and Float (transfer) the Roller eggs under the Fantails for them to Hatch and Rear as there own. The Rollers used to go back down (lay)again ro
