  1. Looks a handy little rabbiter mate
  2. A little nudge/lift under the quarrys back end when running is becoming a nice little earner for one of my lurchers. Just started doing on the last couple of outings. It seems to send them somersaulting then its game over. He missed a lot of stuff commiting himself to the first strike up until this stroke of genius. I presume hes not the first or last to pull this off. To see it for the first made me realise how resourceful these dogs can be
  3. Sneaking in the house and robbing anything edible PIssing up the plants is another hard one to break Trainining them to dump in some body elses garden can test a mans patience but is well worth the time put in
  4. I like um This one loves to hunt Bit dangerous at times mind
  5. Personally dont think there is any actual cross. Seen some proper ragamuffins serve the purpose as well as the traditional types. I would have thought a big lurcher would have been the wrong tool for the job. proved wrong once again. If the dogs keen time in the field should produce a competent mutt
  6. last years onions were the best ive had. Still got loads in storage and the quality is top notch. Dont know what type they were. This year im trying sturon. One thing i did differently last year was to plant into firm soil.
  7. To much graft will tire and take the keeness out of a young pup Be patient , its just a matter of time. I ran an inexperienced rusell with the lurchers and she began to develop there style of hunting so i cut it out while she was learning her job. Someone once said if a dog marks a hole bolt the rabbit for the dog. Sounds like a good way to create a dog thats keen to mark up. Good luck
  8. Its nice to meet new people with the same interests. Enjoyed the craic. Keep in touch matey Catch yer later
  9. Got two jills and a large albino hob. All of them have been worked £ 20.oo for the three CHEERS
  10. Its work hes after. Get him out in the fields with the ferrets on a regular basis. He be more interested in hanging about once he seen a few bolt
  11. Put a dozen spring cabbage plants in a raised cradle covered with a cloche. Planted broad bean seed in pots under glass. Done a tray of summer cabbage. Ground is cold and very wet at the moment
  12. Take him on his own Treat it as a normal days ferreting Net up: anything that escapes through net or unseen bolt hole gives the dog his chance Same routine everytime you go out . You done the training now its down to time in the field
  13. The quieter the bleep the closer you are to the rabbit
  14. Mongerel lurcher type There was some deerhound bedlington labradoor and greyhound in the mix Never bothered training her just took her out. The perfect moochers dog Sometimes you dont realise what you got until you try and replace it
  15. Think you would get a more accurate reading if you held the box above the the collar. Stand on a chair or summat and make sure the collar is sitting upright not on its side Think you can get the stickers off ebay
  16. Its handy to send a dog over a fence to work a bit of hot scent in the light rough Not sure about that jumping full on when lamping though
  17. If hes bottling them up hes doing is job Iwould be more concerned if he was killing them when they had a chance to bolt
  18. Both of the last two answers sound right to me. They spot them nets when they come out slow
  19. Looks like a good session. Whats in the white and brown dog in the front of the picture
