    Sunday Mooch

Done same thing. Rabbits bolting out of cover think it must be a bit to wet in them burrows
  2. Shes a great little rabbiting companion.
  3. I use both sexes Get more clean bolts when the gills are working. Hob as a knack of turning them stubborn rabbits that don't want to bolt. Deffinatley get more digs when odd jobs dishing it out
  4. Soon go rusty noticed that meself
  5. She got a very quiet nature. She done nothing when we first took her on. This is her second season and to be honest shes a god send. Bushes marks and is usually very obedient Sounds like your on your way to sorting your two out
  6. The terrier I refer to is a jack russel bitch. She was a fully mature dog when I took her on. Luckily for me she had a very easy nature.
  7. Get the ferret out and handle it in front of the dog you will soon see what the dogs intent is.
  8. Broke a Russell bitch to ferrets last season but she hadn't done work of any kind She was very dodgy around the ferrets . I was constantly using a very sharp sound something like TSHTT followed by leave it or GET YOU She started to respond to this but once I took her out hunting she became unsteady eventually after a few dodgy outings she began to realise that when a ferret was entered ther was a good possibility that a rabbit would bolt and these were fair game. Seeing the other two dogs work with the ferrets without the rollockings also helped a great deal I think. I th
  9. Good recall is the key. Once that's in place you can do a bit of both. Ferreting general mooching to start then a bit of lamping when hes matured a bit more
  10. Might have a go meself if this rough weather and low cloud keeps up. Good luck with your next outing
  11. You are Now get your arse out there and live up to the accolade
  12. Its a good feeling . putting the time in brings out the full potential of any dog Keep at it and good hunting
  13. Fair comment Think most of us have had that problem somewhere along the line. However if both parties have permissions cant see a problem with teaming up when a hand is needed
  14. Every drop is not a forgone conclusion. That's why its such a challenging yet very exillerating way to hunt. Im in Cheshire meself so if your short of a pair of hands and a net give us a shout. Personally im using a couple of 50 yard nets set the traditional way. Can be a bit of a hand ful at times . Better to work in pairs at night although I don't have that option at the moment.
  15. TWO JARS A PICKLES HALF A DOZEN EGGS AND A ROLL OF FELT
  16. Jack Russell. Got a bitch here that's stepping up to the plate every time we put rabbit scent her way. Disused railway embankments are brilliant places for a dog to gain the experience and required fitness level. She started to yap when she moves one aswell. Really pleased with her progress and I believe theres more to come. Cant beat a good little un when the covers tight

Dropped a couple off trads around an old porta cabin the lurcher had marked. Terrier got underneath just as we had finished setting the nets. Next thing rabbit bolts out straight into the long net with the terrier right behind it. Wasn't meant to be like that as we were going to enter a ferret in our own good time. That was a stroke of luck because if the terrier had got under before the net was up the rabbit might have escaped. Anyway I started to take the nets down they were a bit knotted up in places so I re laid the first one again without the pegs in the middle of the f

  21. Hendrix stuff is the best ive heard. Credit to the drummer and bassist too The feel was palpable You don't have to be the best technically to move people. Pure genius
  22. Good test of field craft when you ferret without the mutts. Been caught out in the past. Nothing at home in burrows that look the part. Next thing theres a couple of rabbits making good there escape because I decided not to net the set that was full of leaves. Whats that all about
