No you're not, and I understand fully, but I appreciate that the word 'asymmetry' is a long one for you. and you also totally avoided my point. So what? I'm happy for you that you're enjoying airguns, but this is not a 'rule' I've ever encountered (only use springers for plinking). It has to be one of the oddest ideas I've heard in a long time. I agree, I own a few myself. I also own a springer - as others in this thread have said (and you claim to have read) they are just as effective in the right hands. But I appreciate not everyone wants to put the time in to le

Fair enough, you're perfectly entitled to your own view. Personally I'll go with the figures. yes, probably his mate stocks more PCP's, the reason being he's a business and has to stock what sells, simple From speaking to two shops around here that stock air rifles I know one that sells more springers, cheap springers, and one that sells more PCP's. One shop also sells skateboards, radio control models and bikes etc, the other is purely field sports. You're from west midlands so may know both, their catchment tells the story.

Yep, believe that no problem. Some just don't want to believe it though

Yep, reading the thread, and apologies you don't understand the analogy I have springers, so do a lot of mates, but we play with springers not hunt. If we go hunting it's because pests need removing and we take an applicable calibre. If it's air then it's pcp, they get the job done every time with no fuss or hassle. Can't understand for the life of me why you would advise someone to learn on a rifle they'll never use if they can afford a pcp. In this case the op is buying a springer for cost reasons, fair enough. But originally he was going to buy a pcp OR a springer. This was when I s

No it is'nt - and you're analogy is factually incorrect. The springer puts more weight on any small failings in your technique. If you start with a springer, and learn to shoot that well, it will help you with a PCP - even though its a very different gun. Having done both, you will then appreciate differences in grip strength, stances, etc. This is whats known as an asymmetry in the learning curve. Much better to go springer then PCP rather than the other way around. Of course, if you dedicate yourself to learning how to shoot properly, you will end up being as good either way (

but do you need a £200 welding mask ?And yes you would get a welder good enough for £200 if you bought 2nd hand and theres plenty of single phase welders that are good enough to weld that (we had a single phase mig in a commercial vehicle garage that i built two brick wagon bodies with and used to weld stainless with it ) Yep, we need the mask. A good mask is clear so you can see the weld go in, it's fast on changing and works every time. As for welding the trucks, admittedly it was a long time ago when I was doing wheelbase alterations for the main dealers, hooklift prototypes for M

In that case buddy, fair play. Any rifle is better than no rifle

This is what it is. When your grass goes white in a hot summer what happens is the "green" goes down into the ground, stops it getting sunburnt. What's happened here is while the green was hiding away from the sun someone's dug the grass up, so the green couldn't go back. It was quite common in Victorian times when food was so scarce folk had to eat white grass. Used to happen with dog turds as well, the brown would hide underground. You don't see so many white dog turds nowadays because with all the immigrants the brown doesn't feel so out of place. There's no charge for this import

mate, without being nasty our welding mask cost more than £200, you're not going to get a welder good enough for (A) £200 and ( running on single phase (240v). That jobs going to need cleaning up well, so that's an angle grinder job, then some weld blasting in to it.

How Do You Get A Politician To Answer A Question
rodp replied to Country Joe's topic in General Talk
well yes, and no, sort of. -
Probably not, which means they're not worth the exorbitant salaries they get.
-
I know they can be a bit nasty, just wondered if one had charged at you. Apparently there were some around where I shoot between Tenbury and Stourport, but all disappeared now. Hope they come back as would love to go pig shooting, although the .243 may be borderline on a big one. There's always the 12g with a slug though Lot of bacon sandwiches in one of those

As good if not better than most bought ones. You need to go on the nv forum and read up. make sure you read the diy nv threads before asking silly questions as that really winds folk up Once you start building though you'll get hooked

If this carries on involving Cameron it may disappear quite soon

pmsl hahaha Its known as an anal hook or rope master... I'm not going to ask how you know
-
But most of us started with a springer because that was the ultimate tool at the time. It's like telling him to learn to drive in an Austin seven with cross ply tyres and mechanical drum brakes "because it will make you a better driver" Just buy the pcp and get a springer as a toy when you can.

How Do You Get A Politician To Answer A Question

How to get an answer from a MP, simple "Mr MP, would you like a bribe"? ................... "Certainly, how much you giving me" -
Yeah Clarkson did wrong, shouldn't get drunk and have gobbed off, and shouldn't be flying about in helicopters. But if the BBC offer a chopper who's going to turn it down ? BBC shouldn't have the money to spend in the first place. This isn't just about Clarkson now, this is the lefties having a pop at the tories. They're trying to lower Clarkson down to Savilles level in the public eye and have said that Clarkson is being backed by Cameron and friends. Coincidence that it's just before election and just after some tory MP's have called for the BBC to lose the license fee.??? BBC is ge

We get asked now and then to make straps in different configurations. Usually they say they're to lift tubes or something that are painted so they want the eyes padded We just make them and charge them, I don't care what they do with them Made a few dog stretchers for animal hospitals, and make covers now and then to cover morgue trolleys.

Not even going to argue on this one, everyone knows there must be dozens or more PCP's out there hunting to every springer. As for running out of air, all I can say is you're a better man than me if you can carry 70 rabbits back every trip. I don't squeeze the trigger unless I'm going to hit it. Even my fac S10 does 30 shots per fill, that's a lot of rabbits in one night. If you have the money buy the pcp, springers are a novelty / classic now.

Went to the docs once, and told him I was a bit concerned about the size of mine, asked him if there was anyway to make it 9" long, he said . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . fold it in half

Go buy the pcp and get the springer whenever, the springer isn't important, just for fun.
