Can you sort them out some decent ferrets as well? sounds like they both work jackers lol
-
Only way to tell if a ferrets any good is to try it, don't worry about size, Id give any ferret a try apart from the so called micros.
-
Its a very useful thing to be able to draw a ferret out when you cant dig, for example I do an old landfill sight where digging is very difficult. If the ferret is a jacker you wont need to open a rabbit to get them out theyl come out on their own.

Ive only been making nets about 4 years so I skipped the hemp and started with bright spun poly, I love the bright coloured nets very hard to lose one and of course they aren't going to rot like hemp can if not taken care of.

I stocked a pond about 18 years ago. Nice size pond, its actualy a ww2 bomb crater, I put in 23 wild carp as well as a few rudd and roach. A couple of years later there was hundreds of tiny carp and I realised I should have chucked a few predators in there like pike or perch to keep the small ones down, so I put in a little jack pike which I doubt made much of a difference. It seems to have balanced out now, although the rudd disappeared. I often see a heron take off as I approach so I think hes thinning out the small fish. If I was going to do it again Id probably go with much fewer wild

This is what I do. In winter when it gets really cold Ive left rabbit in up to 3 days. Bred a litter this year and of course the jill is nursing so needs food 24 hours a day, so I bought a bag of jwb dry to feed in the day when it was to hot for meat, The amount she was crapping it cant be good for them. I switched back to flesh only when the kits got to 3 weeks, didn't want them eating dry. I am about a week away from running out of rabbits from the ferreting season so Ill have to get out with the air rifle. Bought 2 hobs a few years back which had been weaned on tinned cat food and d

Bloody heat, not eaten since breakfast yesterday I feel so crap. I love a bbq but not when its as hot as this.
-
Obviously a big bowl of water helps, careful if you've got kits coming out of the nest though.

I hung up a small frozen coke bottle In a sock with my kits, also the sleeping compartment is split in 2 at the moment so I put a couple of frozen big coke bottles other side of the partition. I also lay some baton on the top of the hutch and cover with ply, the ply gets hot in the sun but the top of the hutch stays cool because of the air gap. Hadnt read the thread beat me to it katchum.

Reality tv, quizzes and those crap talent shows, cant stand them. I watch man tv like the sopranos, oz and game of thrones.

Just to make sure theyre mature enough, if I didn't have any adults to work with I would probably start them a lot earlier. I think a lot of ferrets are ruined because they are started to early and take a beating before they are ready.

Last kits I had I started in there second season which I think is ideal, only thing is it means a long wait to find out if theyre any good.

Never liked the heat, always used to work on buiding sites, walked off site on a few occasions because it was to hot. How people can bare laying in the direct sun Ill never know, give me a shady spot and Im happy.

Another beginner tip, don't buy the cheapo bisley nets, buy some quality handmade nets.

My kits started eating yesterday, strange thing but 1 of my kits has had her eyes open since day 20, thought that wouldn't happen until week 4 at least. Amazing how fast they grow at this age, I suppose another week and its time to start handling them a bit.

People who invade my personal space. People who have the bass to high on their car stereo. Cold callers. People who drive like lunatics and risk the lives of others People who say innit blud Overly familiar people People who rev their cars and beep their horns for no apparent reason.
-
Pretentious people who pretend to like ponsy food. People who eat with their mouth open. Visitors that don't know when its home time.

Cheeky feckers. I started with a jill and about as many purse nets as I could fit in a couple of pockets. Kids want everything instant these days.

When working thick cover, especialy if youre alone and cant watch the entire warren, try putting a cat bell on an elastic band and putting it on your ferrets neck, if it snags underground its easy for the ferret to pull off. Bells do stop working when they get full of mud so take spares.

Ive used the method mentioned above for drawing ferrets out multiple times on spots I cant dig, good tip. This ones for new ferreters, let your ferret get well clear of the rabbit hole hes exiting before picking him up, if you grab him when hes half way out he might learn to duck back inside the hole, this is called skulking. Not suggesting anyone should go out and poach but if you do and you get caught be polite, youd be amazed how often you end up with the permission .

Tescos are way out of line this time, they should send every offended muslim a pack of sausages and a case of beer.

Avoid folding spades, get a bulldog.

Ive had it bad over the years, tried all sorts of pills, tried sticking Vaseline up my nose and eating local honey, Beconase nasal spray combined with a couple of Loratadine a day seem to be keeping the worst of it away at the moment.

Havent got a coffee machine at home so stuck with instant, I like nescafe black gold when I can get it. Local shop has a machine does lovely cappuccino which Ill have most mornings. Anyone else get headaches when you go without caffeine?

Theres every chance they could be half wild poleys if you've got them around you. Be interesting to see how they turn out.
