  2. you can have your own pack of hounds just like terriers or lurchers ect but it is well worth affiliating yourself to a governing body ie english farmers fox control association or the welsh equivilant in order to become registered with the mfha you need ot provide them with maps of the ground that you intend to hunt and also a big fat cheque of i think about 800 pounds this does give you legal protection ect and i would say it would benefit you if you dont have anyone else hunting your land ect private packs are frowned upon by most mfha packs and also the fell packs committee.why i couldnt te
  3. im sure i saw in the stud book that some hounds of the beaufort used a dumfrieshire stallion once not sure wether it wasnt in the line of mostyn todhunters hounds also carry lines back to studbook hounds but were based n john peels old lines there was two hounds bought from him by squire crozier originaly that most of barrys stuff are bred back to i cant remember the names of em sorry thre is a touch of tan in his stuff but they are predominantly black and white hence the local nickname of todhunters freisens you could ask of the breeding but i would say you would struggle to get the truth the

  13. any body watchin it just on now and there is a mangey fox in the field checkin the lambs out i have never wanted a fox to show just how devastating it can be among lambs on a public tv program do you think they will show it if he does strike and the need for the hounds to find him and end his marauding this is wat we need folks to fight our corner but id very much doubt they would put the hounds first
  14. fox hunting with dogs is illegal two dogs can be used to flush a fox to waiting guns but no dog must be used to kill a fox wether it be terrier lurcher or hound full stop isnt that the wreckin crew video that is like someone already stated as old as the hills
  15. Yes he was a rough coated dog it sounds like him he was a keen young dog i never worked him to ground as he was 10 months old ,i ended that line to concentrate on my black dogs he was given to some one who i was told gave him to a gamekeeper in cumbria (more like he was sold for a profit) where abouts is this dog that you know pal ?? He bought it off a lad up our way, dug it 2 or 3 times, but it seemed to be going off the boil with old age?? And would bay at fresh air, he sold it back to the lad a couple of month later, don't have a clue where it went?? I know he found out a bit abou
  16. id say another fox badgers tendto go in from the back end
  17. personally without starting an argument fmwtc anything thats nothing special isnt worth feeding never mind breeding from,it wouldnt be too bad if the breeders of'nothing special' dogs ran on the litter and filtered out the shit pups from the more promising stuff but usually they all end up on the market, its back to ££ signs.certain people will breed from the shit whats put on the market because it LOOKS GOOD but is that why theres so much rubbish about? im only speaking on behalf of myself and lads ive dug with over the years and still dig with today.regards dm. so i take it you have a kenne
  18. well lads i have been reading the thread about ken gould and his black stuff some good points and some crap points running a man down for his choice of breeding for a few pounds. The working terrier can come in all forms from a ten minute wonder to a stay all week warrior there is a lot of folk it has become apparent on here with a lot of knowledge and a lot that think they know i have been about terriers since being a lad and have witnessed some of the very best work owned by some of the names mentioned regular on sites like this one and some by men you will of never heard of.a special dog i
  19. lads the point of why breed out of something that isnt special there is lads all over the country that will NEVER EVER OWN a special one and if you do you will be lucky to ever own one again as good. A special dog to different men is a different dog ive seen and owned some good dogs but only ever seen a handfull of special dogs the dogs that will stop and do the job no matter how hard it becomes the ones with the extra gear. The drive of a catterpillar d8 makin a hard situation look easy and taking little grief for doing a job text book style the men who know the job will undertand what im on
  20. like what has already been said sparticus was nothing special but did throw excellent pups if he was that good they wouldnt of partd with him to ken
  21. spaticus was bred by dave and given to paul it was no good for paul and then given to ken the dog was a bit more than 9 month old at the time as they had been working him this is fact straight from daves mouth
  22. john and the rest of the lads arrested have been released on bail pending further enquirys the charges are correct a firearm in a public place (it was licensed and in the holster john wasnt at the earth and that is what has been told in a statement to the police. And also interfering with a set it was a well known fox earth not a badger setwhat im sure a badger expert will soon confirm. He would of been released sooner but it took the solicitor from the mfha a long time to get to the police station this is FACTS unlike what has been posted sooner anymore information will be put up on here for a
  23. yes sparticus did throw excellent pups a lot better than himself and when smithy was bred to i think it was frank staceys bitches the terrier quality was certainly picked up a lot smithy was a good dog but there has and is better dogs about it was a dog with a big reputation but the terrier types since the wide spread use of the location system has changed a mute dog was usless in the halycon days now a mute dog isnt a problem ken was a good breeder of a terrier true and could put together a good terrier not sure about the stuff he has today at home but once they were good there is still these
