  1. i bought 2 8 month old polecat ferrets last week and i am taking them out for the first time tomorrow morn,the guy i bought them from says that they have bolted a few bunnies,would this be the right age to start and at what age should i expect them to be doing the job no problem,hope iam not going out tomorrow to make an arse of myself .i suppose we all have to start somewhere any advice,tips would be most welcome.thanks
  2. i was also out for a mooch today,had been told about a few warrens about 10 miles away from me that nobody was ferreting,took a drive down this morning and seen about 12 or so rabbits in field and around 30 burrows along 2 hedge rows.on the way back home i went into farmers house and politely asked if he minded me going onto his land to catch a few rabbits and that there would be no dogs running around mad or no guns being used and if there was any digging to be done that all earth would be back filled and left as seen.well he couldnt have been happier,said he would have no problem as the rabb

  7. hi all,i am after buying 2 polecat ferrets,can anyone tell me where in ireland can i get the gear to make decent purse nets,looked on ebay but they all seem to be 4z or 6z nylon,i was wanting something like maybe 10z HI VIS,i can find every thing else just not the nylon.THANKS

  9. my mate who trains greyhounds bought a bitch thinking it was a pure grey but says its to small for the running track and thinks it might have a bit of whippet in her,he said i could have her for nowt if i want,i am only starting out in this game,just wondered what anyone thinks about this,the dog is 15 mths old ,he says sit,stay and recall are all good,my main quarry will be hare and the ground would be small open fields.thanks

  12. so what your saying daks is that the farmers where you come from would put stakes in the ground and run wire across so as the dogs can get caught up in it and he would take the dog of the handler and shoot it ,then kick said crap out of handler,where do you come from? feckin beruit.

  16. 100% with you mate never right in the head , blowing a dog away in front of you, if you can live with that after all the service its give to you , and partnership through the years then on your mind be it. i will lay mine to sleep the same way they come in , the body intacted. shooting is humane but i wouldnt want to see the after math , it would be some thing i wouldnt get out of my head. my dogs are my family and i couldnt do that to any one in my family 100% all the way
