  1. hi all, took my wee cocker bitch to the vet yesterday as she wasn't eating her grub,i feed my dogs raw meat such as rabbit and butchers of cuts, the thing is the vet said never to feed a dog raw meat(cooked only) especially if it has bones in as they can get stuck in the dogs throat or gut,if this was the case of my cocker she would have to have an x-ray then an operation, now as it turns out she started eating her food again last night,i don't want to stop feeding my dogs raw with bones as i think they are thriving on it,especially my whippet x pup,but then again i don't want to put their health
  2. i would go and confront the neighbour, sounds like he could be needing a kick in the plums
  3. Shes 16 months now, she only started at the end of last season really, but took to the long net well, although there were a few collisions. She's whippet with a dash of collie. i like the look of her,i have a 3/4 whippet 1/4 bedlington she is only 5 1/2 mths at the moment, hoping to get her out the end of the month,cheers......john
  4. cheers rory,do i set the net a good bit away and give her a small run at them?cheers......john

  6. i was wondering if it would be ok to use long net surrounding a warren instead of the usual purse nets when starting my wee bitch on the rabbits, alot of the holes round my way are covered by brambles ect and are hard to get into to set a purse net,cheers......john
  7. i would buy one that works, you can't get spare parts for mk1 anymore, why not get in touch with the seller and ask if you can make 1 locator out of the 2,how much is he wanting for them?cheers......john
  8. i agree 100% with you jigsaw, albertj why not take these complaints have a look at them and try to improve on next years event instead of trying to dismiss them,it's all good and well praising yourself on all the well done e-mails,letters ect that you receive, why not put 10-20 extra stewards at the terrier and lurcher area where most ,if not all of the complaints were coming from, why not just accept that there was a problem and make everyone happy by dealing with it.it was my first time to go to this event and i don't think i will be back again.
  9. albert j,i was at the fair from 10am until 4pm(couldn't stay any longer, hassle from travellers)i only seen 1 garda on foot all day and i was walking back and forth from lurcher and terrier to main arena,i did see a garda car,but this was only after carraghsgem pup was stolen, the only stewards i noticed were at the gate collecting money, not once did i see any inside the event,so come on albertj, this is a problem that has to be adressed, just because you have done it and got the t-shirt,don't mean you let your standard slip, atb cheers......john.
  10. there are loads of black rabbits my way,i have even seen dark brown(chocolate colour) and ginger,i was told it was in-breeding that caused this,cheers......john

  15. i have nothing against travellers but i was pissed of with them asking me how much was i was selling my dog for, even the younger ones were asking, they must be taught this from an early age.i thought the stalls were badly set up with them being all over the place,to much walking, won't be going to birr again, ballinglough and antrim were better,cheers......john

  24. hi all,my 5 mth old lurcher pup has shown no interest in retreiving for the last 10 days, she was about % on this up until this time, her sit and stay is good, recall is good and her retrieving was good aswell up to this point, she was retrieving in an open field, long grass and semi thick cover but she will do none now, when i throw dummy she will go and find but won't pick up and retrieve,i have tried changing the dummy, different field and i have even went back to basics,it's so frustrating, she did 1 retrieve for me last night but showed no interest after that and i did notice that a few of her te
