My dogs are kept indoors but also work if they couldn't do a job ferreting lamping etc. they wouldn't be here they all work off lead dont bark unnecessarily or run out of control. Many people I've worked my dogs with have commented on their exceptional behaviour both on the field and at home. I wouldn't do it any other way they should first and foremost be treated as pets if you expect them to work for you. Thus, if things on the working side do not pan out they can always be rehomed within a family atmosphere having been fully socialised in all aspects of every day life.
