  1. i had a young fawn bitch until recently, didnt get past basic training with her, ive never given up on a dog before but she was a nightmare at recall, she had no interest whatsoever, she was ok at hunting and had great potential b ut was a whole pile of hassle, my bull lurcher is so easy and responsive in comparison!
  2. nor would i breed something that i dont have a clue about not being funny but if you are asking questions like you are , you should have done more research before getting your ferrets, what happens if you cant sell them, no one wants them ?? jill dies at birth , kits get eaten etc not as simple as you may think ,this is how rescues end up with unwanted kits , sorry for being harsh but please re think before you commit yourself, thats me being honest even if it may offend a.t.b john im sorry, what makes you think i dont have a clue about ferrets? why because i havent bred a l

  5. brahma crosses dont always have feathers on their legs neither do silkie or pekin crosses even out of same clutch you can get huge variations, are you gonna roast him? i wouldnt bother breeding him myself! he could have cornish in him despite his colouring and shape, his head is middleing gamey
  6. if i (not my dog) had to make the choice between a bullet between the eyes or the injection i would choose the bullet! maybe im bit more squeamish than i should be when it comes to my dog, my parson russel terrier bitch of 8yrs is more family to me than my family is! she goes everywhere with me! alhough i am planning on getting her stuffed when the day finally comes ive the taxidermists card stuck on the fridge. gem
  7. my advice; take the high road, never respond to their stupidity, and every time they insult you, take a deep breath, dont sink down to their level, you are a better person than they will ever be, if they get a response from you its more entertaining for them, eventually they lose interest and move onto someone else, in the long run its better for you and better for the reputation of hunting as a whole, if its any consolation it does get easier, ive been there! (secretly i used to imagine that the modern world as we know it ended and these people starve to death, or just scramb

  9. Hi Gem. it may be a good idea to google, plummer terrier association, european plummer and plummer terrier club of great britain, as it is a large subject to discuss and may promote alot more debates on here Cheers thanks just checked out plummer terrier club of GB, saw one bitch thats really nicer there, if i had room i would love to have one!
  10. nice pup, there are some features in common with my bitch, she was a choc though, your pup has a slightly broader head! gem

  12. hi, sorry to show my ignorance so blatently, what is a plummer terrier? i keep seeing them around but nearly afraid to ask are they russelxbeagle? are they vocal hunters? are they stubborn or easy to train, what makes a good one? gem
  13. its very hard to find ferrets of good quality, ive walked away from buying many ferrets because they were too small, too big, had pointy heads, bad temperaments, in poor condition, sorry if i keep refering to jills as does, im still thinking in rabbit speak after selling my flemish giants, the only part of keeping/breeding jills that concerns me is how to judge when to mate her as i no longer have any hobs and i am bringing them to a friends hob, i bred rabbits and most small rodents as a teen, ive been involved in dog breeding and showing for over 15 years, i spend most of spring and summer f
  14. we are having trouble geting more than 8 or 9, youve a great crop of them there!
  15. hi, im not new to owning or working ferrets, but ive only ever kept hobs, my latest 2 does a silver and a polecat are coming of age and i plan to have a litter from them? they are working well and are of a nice type and have good temperaments, when is the best time to mate them? i would like to ideally have the kits ready to sell june-july, what are their seasons like? do they come into season on a weekly/monthly basis or are they in season 24/7 during breeding season? any advice will be appreciated! gem.
  16. depends on the dog! 3 of mine have earned their keep and will be kept long after their retirement at 8 or 9 usually, until old age becomes too much for them and they have a 1 way trip to the vet, 3 more are in training and the other 1 is a pup, just in case you were wondering what dogs i have- ive 3 working sheepdogs a bull lurcher, a patterdale, a parson russell and the pup is a border terrierX if a dog has earned its keep, it should not be discarded, it should be rewarded for its efforts with a comfortable retirement with people its familiar with! if you cant do that then dont dump
