    By the time you buy all the materials and time to make one, you may be better of just getting one of ebay. I use the solid frame (non-folding) and have never had a problem. The units I get from SX Environmental retail at around £127.00+VAT. All of mine have paid for themselves through work and will last for as long as I am working. The only maintenance needed is a quick hose down now and again.

    I don't to rural fox control, but for the urban one's I find that:- Felix Cat Food and Sliced pig's liver alway's gives good results. The smeller the better. Raw chicken carcases and raw chicken breast meat turning green and smelling is a real appetizing hung up by string over the door release pedal works a treat.

    The RSPCA offer advice.     No Red's in London !!! (except from London Zoo maybe??). Make sure the MK4 or MK6 is protected from non-target pest species, preferably in a tunnel. I only use these type of traps in loft voids of houses under lock & key to prevent any accidents. Best traps on the market for grey squirrel's though. P.S. Stick a few monkey nuts around the trap to get interest and one on the pressure pedal.

    Article in Cheshunt & Waltham Mercury 22/04/10 Page 2. 44 Dead Foxes Left Hanging from Trees Briefly, two teenager's were out and about and came across a traditional gamekeepers gibbett on private land near to a public right of way containing 44 dead foxes. The Police and RSPCA were called and the landowner asked to take them down. The Police confirmed that NO offence had been committed.     Maybe the newspapers need to be informed of this so that the balance is address. When I go to residential properties where pet rabbit's have been taken or attacked by urban foxes, I encourage the homeowner's to write to their local MP's and contact their local newspapers with photographic evidence of their families trauma. I have even encouraged school's that I have attended to do the same, but it alway falls on deaf ears, surprise surprise. National Newspaper's are not interested as it make's them look like 'supporters' due to public opinion and they may loose newspaper sales.

    Well done that man. Nice running commentary and report of your activities. More informative than just saying "I shot a fox with my .410" I always handle my dead foxes with disposable gloves as they are so mangy and disgusting !!!!

    When I worked for one of the big national companies, a technician was sent to a house to remove a dead rat. He told the householder that it was clinical waste and had to be disposed of properly. The dead rat was bagged up and the technician left. The householder watched the technician drive up the road, stop and dumped it in a neighbours wheelie bin !!!!!     I use a little Feralmone on each traps to gain good interest. Its around £33.00 per can, but depending on how often you are trapping and if you are doing the work as an occupation, it pays itself off on the first job and lasts for ages (depending on how much work you have coming in). A split second is all thats needed per trap, and that will last for up to 4 days.     There are loads on ebay starting around £59.00 up wards. Just make sure you arrange means of dispatch and that the trap is checked at regular intervals throughout the day in case of neighbouring cats. Felix cat food and a tray of sliced pigs liver (0.79p from Tesco's) is my preferred bait at the moment for urban foxes.

    I used to service perimeter bait around Stansted Airport and the rabbits were forever in the boxes. I always tapped them first before opening them to save me a heart attack from them jumping out on me !!

    Feral pigeons carry and easily transmit salmonellosis, ornithosis and other diseases. Any pest controller worth his salt could rattle of a whole list of notifiable diseases feral pigeons carry. Do you really want to feed your pets these pests? Would you feed your dog stir fried sewer rat with feral pigeon egg fried rice ??

    Liquidized cat food is a good bait for attracting rats. Don't tell the Mrs that you have used her food processor !!!

    I find the quickest and safest way to despatch trapped pigeons is using hand held despatching pliers. Take one pigeon out of trap one by one and despatch. Minimum stress and very humane. You cannot guarantee a quick kill using an air weapon and you may just get a pellet in the eye if it riccochet's. The specially designed pliers immediately kill the pigeon with little fuss. Old saying again " Right tool for the job". Don't forget that if a buzy body see's you on a roof with a air rifle or pistol, they may mistake you for a sniper !!!

    I have had a few gloria sprayers in the past and have found that after a while you cannot screw the pump into the tank as the threads becomes worn out. I now get a £17.99 6L sprayer from Machine Mart that works just as well as a £100 one, and as and when (not often) it needs replacing, it doesn't dent the wallet. If you just going to be spraying occasionally for Garden Ants with Ficam or Cytrol Forte, this will do the trick. Come with a variable brass nozzle.
