Pest control
Urban Fox Control London replied to FOXHUNTER's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
There are alot of 'cowboy' pest control companies out there that offer a 'catch and release' service to comfort and make the client not feel so guilty in their actions. This action only adds to the problems and some farmer's are swamped with urban foxes being literally dumped on their land. Most released urban foxes would only die of starvation if not shot anyway, hopefully before they have killed/attacked any livestock or game birds in their battle against starvation and mange. There's nothing more dangerous than a hungry fox. Anyone that see's vehicles 'dumping' foxes should have -
I know they must be under alot of stress eating all thoughs doughnut's, but how could they loose a mag during a search of a child's bedroom. Good job the suspect didn't show his face !!!!!! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1293105/Raoul-Thomas-Moat-Armed-police-leave-ammunition-family-home-search.html

Thanks for the comments, relly appreciated. My client is making a direct complaint as the whole situation stinks. My treatment was totally ruined and the foxes that were released will now be 'trap-shy' and will never in their life go near a trap again. The treatment only had one more day to run. The traps are professional grade traps and as I said, I don't think a member of the public would approach and try to release foxes from a trap when they would probably of been running up and down and being unprediactable. Someone such as a Pest Controller would know how to approach the

I have no hard evidence though I believe on a recent fox trapping job, an RSPCA Inspector let themselves into a private back garden and may have released 3 foxes awaiting dispatching. All I found was a 'calling card' from the Inspector when I attended at 07.00Hrs on my morning inspection. The trap's had new plastic plates placed the preveious afternoon within the traps were found shredded and licked clean, indicating that foxes had been present. The traps were all closed down. When I called, the Inspector has a 'no comment' attitude, denied entering the property and said she di

This was nothing new. Shame on More 4. This was simply a 'cut & shut' of the documentary MEET THE FOXES which was first broadcast on 2006. All it was was a shortened version of the 2006 documentary with a woman's voice over. Surely, they could have spent the money and actually made a 2010 version. Just like most T.V programs......... REPEATS

I have just seen the trailer of Sunday nights fox program. It looks like a repeat of "Meet the Foxes" that was first shown on Channel 4 in 2006. I don't think it is anything new.

Here I am leaving site following a dispatch. (Caught by The Sun Newspaper). 6 Vixens were caught in total. NO CUBS WERE CAUGHT IN THE TWO WEEK TRAPPING which is an interesting fact as all the self-appointed 'Wildlife Experts' blamed a cub !!! During my 2 week cycle which had me checking the traps twice a day, every day; none of these 'experts' even came to site !!!! Cubs are not trap shy and will be more likely to be trapped rather than a weary vixen, especially when they are being 'hand-fed' by daft members of the public. The press reporters were even placing tins of cat f

trap identification

Is it a pigeon trap with one-way entrance gates? -
Two months ago, I would definately agree with tracking the earth and humanely despatching the cubs as they would be relying on the Vixen's milk. This year's cubs are now very active, eating solids and causing a riot in alot of schools / private houses / businesses killing pet rabbits, chicken's, etc. Foxes are vermin and a health & safety hazard regardless of their age and location. They are not routinely de-wormed, flead, vaccinated or constantly treated against mange. They cannot read signs such as "NO FOULING" or "KEEP OUT PRIVATE PROPERTY".

I have recently started to use a Laser Boresighter from www.inovatech.co.uk I can now 'get-on' target and check zero with out firing a round. The one I have for my 10/22 fits in the chamber and the bolt slides forward holding it in place. A red laser is emmitted down the barrel and you can test and adjust your scopes. Does any one else use these and what results to you get. I am very impressed with mine.

Subsonic .22 and jumping rabbits

You may find that they are pumped up with adrenaline buzzing through their bodies. Although they are clinically dead, there will still be muscle twitching going on, especially with the younger ones. -
rat problem
Urban Fox Control London replied to assasin8or's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
If you have pets in the garden, get an external bait station of ebay, bait it with either difenacoum or bromadiolone whole grain wheat, check it and replenish it until it stops going and then re-sell the bait station on ebay or keep it somewhere safe for future use if necessary. The other possible method is to place small amounts of bait in sandwich bags and poke them down the holes and heel in. This method may not be a good ideal though as rat's have the tendency to drag the bags away and if startled by a cat for instance, may leave the bait exposed. Anyway, there's a few ideas. -
I keep coming across these daft articles. What makes me laugh are the loony comments like "what a cute face" !!!!! "How beautiful but they are stinky" http://www.dailymail...h-brush-up.html

I have a BSA Lightning XL Tactical Spring / Break Barrel to which I use with little effort on Feral Pigeon's and the odd rat. Although I have always been impressed with this rifle and it's predecessor, there is a small amount of movement with the silencer and I can't help noticing that it may not be as quiet as the previous standard BSA Lightning I had before. Does anyone know if the moderator can be replaced on these units? Their is no 'screw' fitting, I think it is held in place with a simple grub screw.

Moderators

In the UK, sales of suppressors fall into four categories of use. For replica and air weapons, the purchase of a suppressor requires no license and in most cases, no identification requirement. For shotguns, these will probably require the presentation of the buyer's shotgun certificate but will not be recorded. For a small- or full-bore rifle, the firearm certificate (FAC) will need to show permission for the purchase of a suppressor and also the gun for which it is intended. All firearms certificates have the firearm and caliber approved by the Police and annotated
