Robin read post 1 then your post 6 your story has more inconsistency's than a tory speech frst you don't know if they want your dogs and then they are in you house with dog treats?

Whilst I agree that genetic abnormalities can and do occur my whole point is that breeders do not consider their choice of parents and the lineage that these dogs have the breeders only think of money so any old dog will do so long as it "looks right",neither do they consider the ability or facilities available to the pups new owner, cash is their only consideration. If breeders bred responsibly and kept lines which had the temperament that suits there needs culling poor pups and not breeding from dogs which show undesirable traits then possibly dogs would breed truer than they do today and g

Who is Mr Reece? Never heard of him, and in this case he's patently wrong. They can seize a firearm at any time if they believe an offence has been committed with it. If it's over the limit then an offence is committed just by posessing it without an FAC. The suspicion that it is over is enough grounds to seize it for testing. Normally Mr Plod won't bother, unless you give him reason to, for example you are lippy with them, or someone has reported shot leaving the permission. If you fancy telling mr Plod that he can't take your rifle, then good luck getting it back! I would offer to trans

Although i can see what your saying, it depends how you use the collar. The one im using has different levels of shock, If you read the instructions and use it as stated then it shouldnt have the outcome your saying. I put it on the lowest setting that got a reaction from the dog, more of an irritant than anything else. Press it then call the dog, when he starts returning leave go. Eventually the dog will learn that coming towards you is a good thing that gets rid of the irritating feeling. And realistically this is what you are looking for, the dog to see copming back to you a good thing. Onc

As much as I advocate elec collars in some circumstances in this instance it would make the situation worse the lad should not be letting the dog of a lead anywhere that he cannot 100% control the situation like in an enclosed back yard the dog clearly does not trust him and a shock from the collar will probably just send the dog running for cover and not to its owner. I would start the bonding process again start feeding him by hand, make him a part of the family, spend lots of time, have patience and trust him should make this come right

Again I totally agree as I said in my first post on this thread I may not want or need a large/powerful dog but I am damned sure I will fight to keep my ability to decide that my self I am sure if breeders where more responsible or accountable for the dogs they sell and the people they sell them too then this would be a much rarer occurrence.

genetic codes are complex mate,it could be recessive,it could be passively carried in almost all dog's but only actually show itself every now and then. and even more complex is what goes on in the mind, thing's that happen while we're still in the womb effect our state of mind as adult's so do the chemicals in our food etc etc it doesnt have to be a cataclysmic event, the fact is we almost definately don't know a fraction of what association's are made in a young pup's mind imo. im saying it's nature or nurture, but not necessarily that it's something we can control You are ri

Dogs,People,Fish,Birds,Spiders......its called the laws of nature mate .....and we all live by them regardless of species. Can you explain what you mean by the laws of nature and how do you place man and domesticated dogs within the confines of these laws when their breeding and evolution has been artificially accelerated by unselected and over breeding? As a hint Darwins theory of natural selection would be a good place to start

Its called learned behaviour.....dogs do not make decisions based on right or wrong, they operate out of learned behaviour based on what they know/have been taught by us or have been genetically handed down. Mauling a human being to death is not learned behaviour and is not genetically handed down....so where does it come from ?......some dogs or people for that matter are born with rare and unexplainable talents and qualities, just the same as some are born with rare and unexplainable faults be it physical or mental.....genetic freaks would be another name for them...... to think bad dogs d

To be honest any one who gives an animal human characteristics is deluded dogs do not know what it is or means to be bad they cannot reason nor understand that what they are doing is wrong. If any thought is given to the subject it is plain to see that a dog only has to be bad by breaking a set of moral restrictions imposed by man it is our interpretation of its actions rather than reasoning on the animals part.

very true , but in all honesty to people really need big powerful dogs in to days world.?? ok some lurchers that are bred are big+powerful dogs, but they are bred for a job or should be.? Any dog over 50lb , if it really wanted to could do massive damage or kill . If you need a guard or watch dog a mongrel or if you need a big dog a GSD will do the job. At least with these type of dogs you can control them, and as above if dog is bad you are in trouble anyway There are some breeds of dogs that should (never) be in the hands of (joe-public) and untill that day happens , you will keep hearing
