    Must admit I have never had a miss fire from my .22 but I tend to leave it cased or in a pocket till needed but I can definitely see how it could get shitty and jam

    If the smell is a problem then I would use virkon s it is quite expensive but you don't need to use much.

    Hypochlorate is much better the tabs tend to get damp in their packet and loose their efficacy and you have to get the correct amount of tabs to water then they don't dissolve very well they smell real good for about 5 mins then it wears off I now use either jeyes or battles black

    Thought you would have had a couple with a fine on there head bud!!........keepers pocket money and that... We have a few english partridge for just that every year I tell the boss they are wild birds and cause of that the fine has to be £150 per bird we make them give it to Help for hero's

    Lots of shoots still put down the odd white pheasant it is not something I have or ever will do though cause they have a nasty habit of turning up in embarrassing places like on the bosses lawn or in a neighbours drive they also do a good job of advertising your drives to everyone

    After reading your initial post the first thing you need to do is forget all the crap about a .223 or.243 if you are targeting rabbits and the ODD fox then their is simply no need it is a straight up choice between .22lr,.17hmr and the .22mag If noise is an issue then .22lr if not then .17hmr I wouldn't even bother with the .22mag as the .17hmr has the edge it most police forces are happy to grant any of them for vermin and occasional fox
