If the ground has some sensible trees you could mention to the feo that you would use a highseat I know of a lad who shoots a small plot which is flat as a witches tit but has some substantial trees and he got a .22 after saying he would use a highseat as appropriate

glad you put that up mate as i said only caught the jist of it yesterday,iv only ever seen a handfull over the years and believe me iv covered some miles,i think its regarded as one of the,if not the ultimate doubles in the shooting circles and the way they spring up when flushed/ spooked and what with their eratic flight through a wood i can appreciate why They certainly are special I choose not to shoot them now I have shot my share never a double though it is the only animal that I have ever shot and regretted killing so decided I didn't need to shoot any more, that said if others

That surprises me mate we see loads out feeding in the middle of the fields when we are lamping they seem to prefer the fields with stock so may be there is more food for them.

I asked at my local gunshop and they had a big tin of old mags which came back in with rifles they took as PX I have an anschutz and mags for that are over £50 new but I bought secondhand ones at £5 each

I just kept asking around for secondhand mags for my gun till I had 5 10shot mags 1box of 50rounds fills them all and no messing about just shove another in the gun when I run out it also makes it a lot easier out lamping we only need stop every now and then to refill all the mags instead of every 5 mins.

Wind and waterproof are a must. I'd go for lots of thin light weight layers as sometimes there is a temp change and you can be roasting when your on the move. A big heavy jacket and trousers are no use.... I thought picker ups just sat in their trucks when its cold or wet :whistling: ......you see my advice is for beaters only as the pickers up advice would be hat, scarf,gloves, jacket, with overcoat and waistcoat with tweed jacket on top. You never get warm just standing about slating the guns..... LOL the beauty of being the keeper is I can drop off the beaters then

I would go dwarf sorghum rather than maize as it will stand the wind better.Instead of grass round the out side I would just double drill the shorgum then plant kale in the middle

as mine are to,well nearly lol,but it was a general question i suppose not personel requirement if you know what i mean most gundogs are purchased as a shooting accessary buy those who have to keep up with the set How does that work then on a shoot day of the 20 beaters there are about 15-18 dogs the pickers up account for another 20 and the guns maybe bring 2, I should say more gun dogs are owned by beaters and picker ups (normal working folk) than guns. If lurcher's could be better than gundogs at their given job then I am sure we would all be using them but the fact
