    Don't agree dan....... Takes a hell of alot of time to get a gundog to a high standard never mind to ftch standard. The only time I see in getting a lurcher to a high standard is fitness, the owner has to put the time in to get to this level. Apart from that the dog either has it in it or it doesn't, I think jacker is the correct terminology,,,,,,,,;-) My point is mate it is only fair to compare their difficulty to train if you train them to the same standard IE same job, try teaching a saluki x to retrieve then take out any gundog breed which of the 2 will take the lesson quickly, easi

    I think most people have missed the point gundogs are easier to train because they accept adapt and learn much quicker than lurchers the amount of work required to take a gundog to ftch pails into insignificance compared to taking a lurcher to the same standard.

    Simple mate, I know for sure that gundogs are easier to train to a consistently high degree than lurchers.

    Sometimes injuries dictate where said dog stays So true mate the dog in my avatar broke his back leg just before xmas so he spent 6 weeks in a cage in the house good as gold now but bloody worrying and damned expensive

    Both elec fence and snares don't make the mistake of thinking that only fox will try to get in the pen a badger is just as destructive and is more than happy to kill a load of poults I run 2 strands of wire round my pens 1 5" from the ground and 1 at 12" about 10" from the pen side

    I wouldn't agree 100% mate. Some folk deserve criticism for how they hunt. But that should only ever be about respect. How much respect they have for what's around them, rather than how much others have for them. Aye I would agree with that :thumbs:

    The lowest form of hunter is clearly one who criticises another for how he hunts, how much he hunts and what he hunts in the end it is about common ground and the love of hunting but it would appear some are to full of their own importance/bullshit to see.
