it makes no difference so long as it pokes a hole through old foxy but I find an 85gr nosler at 3600fps from a 25-06 makes most other foxing guns look tame

Aye but what if it was Ohh lets say 2 hares or maybe a truck full of wee fox cubs??

Conservation projects to benefit who Dan? On the whole lurcher boys provide a FREE pest control service to the farmers usually in places where your guns can't get their fat arses or 4x4's to. I know that not all shooters are toffs but most of them do have an attitude problem towards lurcherman, atleast admit that. As for not being on a highend shoot, yes you are correct but why would I? It's not my thing. I have however walked through some with the dogs The projects included the donation of 10 acres of down land to a butterfly conservation body,it helped pay for the restoration of 2 mi

What a load of bollocks this thread is I guarantee very few if any of the posters on here have ever been on a high end shoot let alone mixed with the guns youse all formulate your opinions on hearsay and bigotry the same attributes as you decry in toffs, Here,s a question to you all as it all seems to be about money on this estate owned by a toff we spent over £500,000 on conservation projects last year alone just how much have any of you given or done for our countryside?

f*****g tawny owls  -
Game licences are still required in Scotland they only stopped them in England and Wales so your mate is correct to shoot game you need a licence http://www.basc.org.uk//en/departments/game-and-gamekeeping/gamekeeping/game-licences.cfm

jai i thought you would no more than that mate a badger would kill a lamb that size in seconds they dont have them big k9s just for eating beetles and worms like some would have us believe  It was a fair size mate, i know they can take lambs of a couple of weeks, but this one would have been an impressive takedown. I've never really heard of them aggressively hunting them like a fox does. I know they eat plenty of dead sheep and other animals, but wasn't sure how big they could actually kill themselves??? But then watching the fox vs badger vid. . . . . you could be right. Min

Why don't you keeper now mate? just curious as to why you come out the game
-
I would say badger you would be surprised how far a badger will roam for food especially when it's dry and worming becomes hard for them
-
Illegal persecution does happen and is widely documented it is also deeply criticised and condemned by the majority of keepers non of this is any revelation however and it would be deeply naive to suggest otherwise and yes I do oppose the indiscriminate shooting/poisoning of BOP, I do not blame BOP for being opportunistic the same as I don't blame the fox but I would like the option of removing problem birds be it under licence

To imagine that raptors purely present a problem from the amount of birds they predate shows a crass lack of understanding from a man who has never driven birds as their livelihood,If raptors have such a little impact why are the NGO encouraging applications from keepers to cull buzzards? It would be better to ask the question as to why there are so many buzzards? The answer could be that they have protected status or there are vast numbers of surplus artificially reared game birds present in the countryside. Road kill and easy pickings. As to having a crass lack of understanding,Then p

fine weather so called terrier men

I'm sorry to disagree and this might come too a shock too you but farmers/landowners and keepers generally dont care about your sport and are looking for a professional job done which will know doubt benefit themselves financially in the future. You cant judge them for that although i do see where it must be frustarting for you lads that want to test there dogs in the winter months. I'm sure the foxes wont run out, they are born survivors....... true, but isnt that where a good relation ship comes in with the landowner/gamekeeper etc? in my opinion its just not safe putting a dog to groun -
If it appeals to you lads I would donate a weekends sport as the prize to include deerstalking (rifle provided if needed and I will have any trophy head mounted for you and the venison butchered for the winner to take too) vermin through the day (air rifle or shotgun and again shotty provided if needed)and lamp at night I can't provide accommodation but their is plenty of space on the estate to camp. Just a thought lads what's your views?
-
Lol can't blame a lad for trying though
-
Bogger You'd be ok fella plod would never believe your dog could pull a deer :whistling:
-
thats what i thought. so where do i stand with taking it home, do i let it rot or live off the land? Only problem might be if plod what to know where it came from you might want to have your farmer "on side" so to speak how likely are you to get pulled though?
