How many on here have suffered a home invasion?do the statistics warrant arming the public? people need to think long and hard about the consequences and the responsibility of being armed in the home, for those of us with children just how do you gain access to the firearm in due time should an incident occur and yet prevent access by the kids, having a gun for self defence is no use if its locked in a cabinet.how many folks truly want to spend their life carrying a pistol it sounds great to some (it isnt at all) reality is you become complacent and the gun stays locked in that cabinet and once

Buy of the french with caution !!! A lot of the lads i know by me who dealt with stuff coming from France , had nothing but trouble , in the form of microplasmosis . There was a lot of rota virus going around French hatcheries . And they sent all their sh-t over here !!! With respect I have dealt with gibovende for many years purchasing hundreds of thousands of eggs and day olds. I didnt say dont buy from the French , they have the best closed flocks . I said buy with caution ! And if you recommend them and have had no problems then thats good enough !!! Sorry didn't mean to so

perhaps if folk take the time to read the article then the part where it states the car goes back to the dealers next week would be obvious

All breeds of pheasant behave differently but it is up to you as the keeper to decide what attributes fit your shoot from how they are to be shot (rough or driven),what the cover is like, topography, disturbance, availability of natural food and keepers attendance (full time, part time or weekend warrior). After that it is down to the keeper to recognise how the chosen breed reacts to its environment and then adapts his "style" of keepering which frankly given that most keepers blame their failings on their chosen breed for the season rarely happens.

Need Some Advice. . . .
danw replied to Ideation's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
quad,pa6 and chainsaw can all be done cheaply and easily at most agri colleges and very often you can get the quad course for free I get a voucher for a free course every time I get a new quad (if you need it Jai I can check the expiry on the one I got in june if its in date your welcome to it). S L is right to a point about the commercial lads taking sparsholt kids but in truth they do this cause they can pay them penny's and treat them like shite, infact I would say some big commercial shoots have sickened a good many fine young keepers to the job,If I where you I would steer clear of reall -

I wouldn't waste your time or money going to college mate keepering is not and cannot be learned in a class room you have a head start already in that you run a successful and improving shoot and realistically another 3 years where you are will be more beneficial than 3 years at college, if I where you I would get a professional to sort your cv use best quality paper and envelopes and get applying for everything even places not advertising just on spec and see where it leads any advice or help you need just pm me I'll do all I can to help p,s you will get a lot of folks start and tell you -
that bit where he screams "when I was off my nut" I would with no due respect at all say he is still off his f*****g nut what a silly screaming c**t its what he does thing is he probably has a point but I'm f****d if I can be arsed to hear it any one who has to shout to get their point across has lost the debate.

not really sure I understand this so correct me if I get it wrong but in a nut shell rather than spend savings of 4k which in 3 years would have made you next to nothing in interest you used credit instead which over the term has cost you a grand? that makes no sense at all? surely it would have been better to spend the savings then replace it at £200 a month and incur no charge at all especially as you would have still had the 17k of credit to fall back on should it be needed
-
Funny thing but its harder work now than it was back then lol,I enjoy the new challenge but really miss all those tips
-
I reckon i could learn a lot from you...need an underkeeper mate? Afraid not mate I haven't got any now,all I can do is offer you some temporary summer work when the season starts the wages are shite though mate and I'm a grumpy old c**t or if you want you could pop down have a look round for a few days shoot some stuff that kind of thing
-
Thankfully my commercial days are over here so from 60k+ it's now 16k and private, a shift in my employers priorities and ideals prompted the change, quality of the sport is now the goal rather than quantity

Interesting reply we all know perthshirekeeper or should that be perthshire'sEXkeeper is full of shite so his exaggerated claims tend to be ignored. Didn't really answer my question though what stocking density would you consider acceptable? as an example I used to put down 50 per Ha whilst the shoot was run commercially in that time though we suffered the usual challenges of gapes, hexamita and coccidiosis I have never yet seen a challenge of mycoplasmosis

.223 Or .243 For Lamping Foxes
danw replied to DeerhoundLurcherMan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I have a shared cabinet with the wife and we have to have all calibres/firearms and ammunition entered on both certs.the bit I've highlighted would be proof enough that they are on the wind up, no force would ever allow this since the cert holders would be in possession of an illegally held firearm by the simple fact that they could access a firearm that they are not certificated for. -
if you tell the vet the dogs are to go to pet homes good luck getting them docked. you will need proof that the dog you own is worked by either producing a shotgun cert or a written statement from a gamekeeper before any vet will consider the procedure,as for working a cocker with a tail
-
what would you consider an appropriate stocking density?
-
With respect I wouldn't get a dog with your commitments by the time you get home and sorted the last thing you will want to do is set out and exercise a dog especially on dark nights and as much as you will commit at the moment when reality arrives it will seem like life just gets in the way of spending time with your dog.I would also add when a dog is left to be exercised/tended by others then bad habits are often born in the dog.

Thatcher and family had stated she did NOT want a state funeral and that the tax payer should NOT foot the bill http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/margaret-thatcher/9980312/Margaret-Thatcher-Dont-waste-money-on-a-flypast-at-my-funeral.html

naa pal, I've never found the need or urge to plaster my face on the web, I'll leave that to those that it floats their boat. I don't even care if you think I look like Quasimodos uglier cousin, that's your prerogative its always the same ones cant walk by a window with out looking at there selfs theres a song about people like that lol Maybe we are old school mate but what gain is there of putting your picture on here? 5 minutes of pats on the back for what expense? Too many folk like everything about them out there. Folk can't even catch a proxy rabbit without giving details then wonder why
