Blimey. That's where I went wrong. I must have forgotten to put the mod on. Definitely modded both times and definitely a difference, but not a massive one. Maybe my HV are very quiet ones. Never come across quiet HV's. The time my friend put some HV's through his Finfire the difference was like night and day. The Winchester subs, were quieter than my air rifle, just a rush of air really not even an audible bang. By contrast the HV's we put through, echoed off the hills 1-2 miles away and round the valley 2 or 3 times. very loud to the point where you wouldn't even know

Best start preparing himself for the disappointment then lol

To be a keeper doesn't mean you have to be a c**t but it sure helps

absolutely when she mentioned dog fighting he seemed somewhat lost with what to say I wonder what kind of documentary they conned him into believing they where making.he did come over as a total tit if you notice most of them carry their slips the wrong way round any proper shooting man would know how to shoulder a slip. And what's the proper way ??? With the buckle/zip at the top and the other end down. That way, should the fastening failed the gun will not fall out on to the ground.

In an ideal world you would find some one with a rabbit pen but that is no easy at all I use dummies other dogs, people, kids, if there are ducks at the local park you could try training near them
-
Use a long line till the recall is 100% when teaching sit/stay add distraction into the training so you can control the situation and correct or reward as required

I borrow a chrony f1 think there about a 100 notes

don't' take it as gospel from a reloading book mate a chronograph is the only way to truly know how fast the bullet is

Rspb Killing Merlins?
danw replied to Blakloks's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Seen folks moan about they springwatch program but this season there has been some good bits what with rooks and magpies raiding a rabbit nest to the egg eating badgers sure it's stuff we already know about but it lays proof at the door of our doubters. -
unless you know the velocity of the bullet then it's all a guess so your options are chronograph and trust the ballistic tables or and the one I would recommend get out there and find out on target

I think your blowing this out of proportion really its like saying if you drive a car your burning fuel which causes pollution, pollution destroys the earth=millions dead but i bet you drive car car don't you? Actually its nothing at all like using a car,you missed the point entirely as but there it is.All I would ask is why are the pigeon squabs lives more important than the crows life you took? Because they are cute(?) babies obviously... Or he may have thought they were songbirds and took the shot. Simple mistake. exactly how were i to know they were not songbirds? All i cou

Is The Hmr Really A 200 Yard Rifle?
danw replied to Elliott's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
What ever happened to field craft ?over the years I have met many a man that could shoot targets that I could but dream of but ask them to stalk to within 25yards of a rabbit and it's laughable, Personally I believe this is why the 17 is so popular today's hunter wants instant results they get a fac and a 17 and there they are gunny Hathcock able to snipe rabbits in the next county it takes no time nor knowledge yet in their minds they are rabbit snipers par excellence -
Is The Hmr Really A 200 Yard Rifle?
danw replied to Elliott's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I would hazard with a few exceptions once folks get a proper gun the .17 is quickly left to gather dust in the cabinet -
So you shot the crow as it was about to kill they squabs what if the crow was feeding fledglings?now you've prolonged the death of those squabs to the extent that one has starved and potentially starved a clutch of fledging crows.Your misguided sense of morality and duty could well have caused more suffering than just leaving well alone. It's a harsh lesson but one that every hunter needs to rationalise.

Word of advice don't keep it in your pocket or in the dash of the truck they get all sorts of shite stuck in them more than once we have lost a charlie when my lamp man has pissed himself laughing at me choking to death from inhaling a bit of corn or fluff

Ohh yeah I would be happy I find shooting deer a chore, I don't enjoy a moment of it, the only time I like it any sense is when I take out folks out whose company I actually enjoy and since we stopped selling days stalking I get to pick who they are .as for removing duties I have had a load removed from me here when we moved from a large commercial enterprise down to a single handed private shoot and more recently the accompanied stalking I don't want to go back to commercial and I sure as hell never wan't to rear again and you can't believe the relief of not having to take pompus, noisy, ine

Simple question mate would you find it acceptable for a picker up to act that way behind the guns?personally I expect a higher level of professionalism and so do my guns Yes just the way it should be dan, but no I wouldn't have any pickers up that needed to do ANY form of basic training with there dogs on a shoot day. Iv never seen or heard of damage being caused by these methods nor have i seen them turn hand or movement shy from it, until i do i wont berate the mans methods.. Personally I think the fact that it will be shot over for the rest of its working life will do far far more damage to
