If the best practice guide suggests that a 4"group at 100 yards is the base standard then given my 300 rum will shoot 3"groups at 600 yards then by their standard I can shoot even further than that? Best practice I am sure would apply to occasional stalkers but given that some people use their guns on a daily basis and are blessed with sufficient talent to shoot at distance then I see no reason why the range should not be extended and I am also sure given the way the OP wrote his post he is no amateur and was well aware of the consequence should his shot fail to hit the rather large target. -

There are 3 types of poacher, 1,the genuine die hard poacher 2,the tells you all about it in the pub wannabe poacher 3,the writes all about it on internet forums but never leaves the house poacher Perhaps people could add others

Rifle men are more effective then dog men Yes a good man with a rifle may take more fox but as a keeper I know full well that without dog men my job can be a lot harder

Thinking about it if they shoot all the resident fox then after that it is all incomers so that could be why there is less to dig and if they do lamp that much it could keep the fox moving with all the disturbance

I would think mate that 100 foxes in a 5 mile radius won't even touch the sides of the fox population their are three estates bordering each other here and it totals 7000 acres last year between the 5 keepers we accounted for 341 fox and we all hammer them every year yet the numbers killed are fairly consistent.

In the last 2 weeks we have been out twice shot 4 the first and 3 last night not keen though you just no sooner or later I will shoot a milky vixen and then have to spend the next day out with the terriers -
Just a thought but have you checked the scope mounting and the bedding screws it might not be you. Bisley is not that far from you and it could be worth calling www.riflecraft.co.uk they do courses.

look at the posting times ,how often have i heard this ,some people are thick fare play ,and i dont do week ends .like i said its a job to me ,that is why i can pick my nights and times , Most of your posts are when its dark and if you don't do weekends how come you posted today that would be a Saturday or in your world is that not the weekend danw , i think 2good means he dont hunt weekends so of course he can post at weekends. none of us old poachers hunted at the weekends, left that for the daft weekend crews that fell out the pub at 11.30 , . nowadays i only bot

Just had a look around this site and what a pile of undereducated morons there are out there. Clicked on to a link about a dog fox getting shot and they all had there tuppence to add about it. What it did remind me off was always be careful of what you get up to as 1 of the dosey twats goes for a walk every night with night vision goggles. If I remember right one of the daft f****r's got shot by accident in the lamp a couple of years ago while out with nightvision or binoculars can't remember which

Just depends how much land their is .I poached the yorkshire dales for years and never once come across other lads wich was supriesing the amount who claimed to have permission and the only bother i had was a farmer who got abusive because he claimed i had stolen a hundred pounds worth of HIS rabbits and i wouldent get out of the dale alive There is about 1000 acres that is suitable for running the rest is either wood,water or too flinty

Just a question and I ain't looking for a argument I have 2 lads course the estate I keeper they are good lads not privileged in any way I caught them poaching and cause they were alright with me we struck a deal and now they have written permission for the rabbit but how many people can you give permission to. they lads would soon be pissed with me if I gave permission to any one else they see the coursing as theirs and protect it as such.
