Not sure about the rest of the country, but down here we do have spot checks at times, had one myself as have quite a few I know. Can't speak for other forces though, depends on how much time their FEOs have. I didn't realize that some forces already do spot checks in over 25 years of gun ownership I have never had a check other than at renewal perhaps each force could employ another feo to make the checks better enforcement of existing law must be better than new legislation.

why do licences run for 5 years between renewal it was to save money in my opinion it is far too long between applications and I would be all for spot checks from an FLO as well. May or thoughts and prayers be with the people affected by this horrendous crime

Comparing the .17 hmr to a .22-250 is like comparing a shovel to a JCB .17HMR 17grain bullet at 2550 fps with 245ft-lbs .22-250 40grain at 4201 fps with 1566ft-lbs I would get the 22-250 it is by far the better fox gun -
An assessment is just that you are not there to be taught so in that sense the person who is assessing you does not necessarily need experience but just the ability to know if you failing in the assessment criteria.

Why would you poach a trophy animal if not for greed? I have no problems with the poacher who needs to feed his family and I have no problem with people legitimately taking a trophy but I have no time for someone who steals a trophy animal, many people would have waited for their ticket to get drawn just to hunt and for some selfish twat too just shoot a trophy such as is described ain't right their is plenty of opportunity in the states to hunt every one has the same chance of getting a tag so it could well have been your trophy that was shot.

I can understand a man poaching to feed his family if times are hard but after that it is theft plain and simple and to take an animal just as a trophy is bloody outrageous they deserve all they get.

blan are you sat waiting for my posts given how quickly you reply you must be I am quite flattered If the government allowed semiauto rifles and hand guns back to licenced users why would that be so bad?given that they where once owned and used by thousands of people with absolutely no problems whatsoever apart from 2 idiots who were both known to the police and didn't have their guns removed from them. the tool of choice for most criminals was the sawnoff shotgun yet those are not banned why?

baln if you require me to single out specific types of weapon that should or should not be allowed then I would be grateful if you would categorize each individual firearm available both civilian and military so that we can be sure that non are missed out. As for nuclear weapons I believe that korea are currently undergoing assessment much more rigorous that a psychological report so perhaps we should await the out come of that before we decide.
