  1. ????????? Seems to have changed from nylon to spun poly In one post. Ive just started knitting my own, are they one and the same? As I thought different.
  2. Got to page 4 and think I done well. What a load of shite. Im off ferreting.
  3. Got used to it now. All the big patches are browning and laying over, but it seems to me, that the very small plants are still growing around the mouth of the holes. Its been like Spring, down here the last week, apart from a bit of rain and wind. the weather looks so good for a bite, I`m off carp fishing for 48hrs tomorrow.
  4. Yeah Kile, I got some hunting goodies. I got a two net kits, 2 books on falconry, a book on net making and a 8 point scottish red stag, skull and antler mount. And while I had the card out buying for others, I also stuck a stalking rod on it for myself, just incase Satan didnt bring me owt useful. Best Christmas ever. Glad its over though.
  5. Have you tried gumtree and the like? At least it would be local to you.
  6. Ha ha ha. I mentioned this thread to an old poacher friend, He said his mate done the same when they were kids. Listening at a hole, caught one in the ear and started crying.
  7. Ive got one of the full size ones in the shed, its a pain in the arse if you aint got the room and even when you do, its still shit. Its got a bit of a swan neck on it, and when "shaving" the edge of the hole nearest to you, you have to hyper-extend across the hole because of the angle of the shaft. Ok for shoveling sand though. Gonna stick with my small bulldog.
  8. Netrigger. Simply awsome nets. 20, 4ft purse and 10, 5ft pokes for £ plus postage, I tried banging a small drink on top of the price, but he wouldnt take it and sent me a few extra purse nets, the lad is a gent.
  9. Nice part of the world mate. Do you eat them brookies whole?
  10. Ha ha ha, very good. The insurers will have us wearing PPE next.
  11. Are you on about an oil for keeping the ferret occupied when doing their nails or removing ticks? Ferretone I think it's called. Some of the lads on here make their own out of olive oil, cod liver oil and something else.
  12. ^^^^^^ Its only a young bird mate, it cant be trusted round MY ferrets at the moment, self hunting isnt the problem, however, the bird dropping out of the tree and ruining the rest of my season is. If my mates bird nails just one of my ferrets, Im fecked, cos the 3 Ive got aint enough for the big warrens Ive got.
  13. Good aint it watching the bird do its thing. Only got the one today, but it was the very first time out hunting and it scored. Bit of a special moment for the bird and the owner.
  14. Nah mate, not on the sunny south coast. Only just got a hard frost, which melts away by 11am. Its very mild weather here still. I dont have to worry about the mentioned problems-yet, as its not my bird. I dont have my own bird yet. And, hes a very experianced falconer, with about 46 birds of all species in his yard. Thanks for the heads up tho.
  15. Hey All. Home now... Got off to a bit of a slow start as the bird is still only 23 weeks. The first two slips were a bit half hearted and she didnt make contact. Plus, I didnt want to trust the hawk with my ferrets, so she was flown from the glove. Then the ferrets bolted a rat, which came running towards me,whilst re-setting a net, I shat meself, seeing a hawk fly at me, Im not used to being around big birds with extra sharp bits. Picked up the ferrets and moved on to a fenced off, stand of pine in the middle of a paddock. Bolted the only rabbit at home, which hole hopped. Put the ferret d
  16. i think its called adverse posession, that maybe what its just called for houses though. Funny story, My mate tried it a few years back. He mentioned what he was up to, but was being very tight lipped about as he thought someone would try and "adversely reposess" it off him. So, he set the wheels turning and looked into the vague deeds of the property, satisfied it was empty, he then called a scrap yard to come and remove two old cars from the front of the house. Worth a grand in the end) Hes thinking, this is the shit! I`ll have me own gaff soon. Got a phone call from the old bill a week la
  17. Happy days mate. Thats him hooked for life then. Its funny, cos, fishing is one of the very few childhood memories I can still remember, so Im sure your grandson will. Tightlines mate.
  18. Hey All, Just waiting for my pick up, then we`re off to my permission for a days ferreting and we`re also gonna try and enter a mates young female hawk. A usual bag without the bird is between 6 and 12 so we shall see. I do a quick write up/update when I get home this afternoon. Hope all goes well and I dont come home a ferret or two short.
  19. Nice. All them boxes would have got binned or roached tho, but then, thats why my lure box looks like a big ball of hooks, jelly, fish, foil, mackeral feathers... I just untangle the easiest and use that one lol.
  20. Batteries do come with the kit. The collars take two, rayovac 394. "Do Not use zinc air types. Other popular equivalents are sr9365w,sr936,v394,gp394,d394,sr45." Just copied this from my new collar instructions. hope it helps.
  21. Nice one lads. youse have done well, I hope you have no more problems in the future. I plan on getting a PR female Harris in the coming year, and youse have definately given me a few things to think about. Keep at it.
