  1. Feck me that multi quote was testing. Thanks for the replys all.
  2. Im crowning them because thats how I want mine, and also my Ma. The dogs and ferrets will get the rest. They not on grass they`re in a shed, but do get let out occasionally, and get regular greens. Well Ive not been hanging the Ross, so to speak, they`ve been getting plucked and cleaned out straight away, then rested in the fridge for a day or two, and the meat has been fine. Im not really into the gamey taste. The farmer who sold us some of the turkey poults, said ten days for the double breasted bronze, which I thought was too long for me, but was happy to go along with it, if thats how i
  3. Shite mate, I know the feeling.
  4. Thats how I was doing the Ross`. I got what the yanks call a killing cone (trimmed up traffic cone) head hanging out the pointy end and bobs your uncle. As for the hanging, I was told 10 days!
  5. Just out of curiosity can you sink bins to make like a big version of a milk bottle trap you used to make as kids? Then Dispose of humanely. The reason I ask is because a friend is having the same problem, but doesnt like the idea of dead decaying poisoned rats indoors and doesnt like the idea of traps outside because of pets and children.....
  6. So,Im guessing your all gonna cuddle them to death and then tuck them up in bed for a week? C`mon people, let me in on the tricks of the trade, I dont want to fcuk this up coming so far. Ones for my family, ones for my Ma and the other is sold to a friend. So Im under pressure. Ive even got a butcher coming round to show me how to crown them out. Help. Please.
  7. It was only today I found the ones phil told me about, they were locked and I couldnt see owt in them, but they looked well used, so I guess their getting emptied...
  8. Hi All, Well this is the first time Ive raised Turkey and with christmas just up the road, it`ll soon be time to think about culling and hanging. How do you regulars do it then, regarding killing and hanging. Broom or blade? Hanging times? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  9. An old boy told me it was poisonous so I looked it up and its not, its fine to feed a bit of fish.
  10. Yeah I know. But with them being thin on the ground most places, I expect you`ll get your arm snapped off for them once everyone gets in from work. Do you have to check them twice a day then?
  11. I was considering it, 64 miles, 1hr 32 each way though.
  12. Ah well. As you say, next time...
  13. Nice net mate. How did you get on last night?
  14. Not bad mate. Just got to fashion some pole holders and you`ll be away.
  15. Yeah if your not doing golf courses Ive not used them, but theres a few out there who do with no problem. Camo them up with a bit of paint.

  17. So that's it is it??? You have spoken??? Lose a ferret and it will adapt and survive...why? Because it is a wild animal!!! Not with its mouth tied shut it wont.
  18. Thats a hard one mate, IMO you cant beat goretex, but that said, its not that durable, its expensive and it rustles. The more durable you go, the sweatier you get. Have a look at some of the carp angling clothing. ESP is not a bad brand. Anyone ever tried fabsil-ing some army trousers?
  19. Nah, their good poles and grommets. Just a pain in the arse having to print a order form and write a check, then wait for it to clear. Feck me, even Nigel from agouti has paypal.
  20. They got some 10mm ones on ebay for around £30 posted for 10 poles. Or you can print off a order form, write a check and get some 12mm with end caps and grommets from Magnum trap co. They sell them in singles, £3.70 a pop.
  21. Depends on the ground you intend to use it on. I think every 7/8 yards is about standard for smooth ground or every 5 for rougher ground. Ive just read that rabbits run higher on rough ground, so having a saggy head line could cause them to go over the net.
  22. Try Netrigger or Andy Kelly off here. Dont know what they`ll charge though. You`ll find all the net makers in a sticky at the top of the page in the ferreting section. Ive just made my own cos they aint cheap.
  23. Spun poly. Nothing smaller than 3.6ft. I dont like the heavy nylon ones, they feel a bit stiff. Especially when they get a bit muddy then dry out.
