thanks chaps. Without wanting to sound condesending falconer-09, I see you are still nice and young. You will need to make sure someone is very willing to drive you about to new grounds (and to stand and wait about!) too as you will soon exhaust areas withing walking distance. I would never put a young falconer off but just make sure you have everything in place. What part of the country are you in? Your welcome to come out with me if your close enough

I had a really fun day yesterday at a new warren, lots of rabbits and a good mix of flights. We bolted 6 caught 3. One did bolt while she was on her 2nd kill so can't be sore about that one!

she's not a huge bird really, she started the season hunting at 1lb 15oz, this is her first hunting season as she has been a pleasure bird and a breeder. Today she flew a tad heavy at 2lb 3oz, I was a bit worried about responsiveness. However she'll follow all day without being served and followed on today round the warrens until she caught the bolted bunny, she exchanges well so no difficulty with a higher weigh and she still hunted the rabbit hard.

Right as I'm new I thought I'd introduce Nimbus my 6yo FHH, she is the most wonderful hawk (in my rose tinted eyes) I commited the sin of buying a 2nd hand bird because I just fell for her and haven't regretted a moment. I entered her this year on a cock Phessie And she has gone on to do well with the bunnies too, we had a great flight and a successful hunt today

We bolted a pair of rats earlier in the season, the hawk caught them just the same although the 1st did bite her. Also a fox, I'll never quite figure out how it fitted down the hole...........

Hello, I am new to this forum but not new to hunting. I started foxhunting when I was 11 and hunted for 10 years mounted. Since I lost my trusted hunter I have been out shooting and ferreting but more recently got into falconry. I have a hawk who is a wonderful hunting companion and two ferrets, one of which is currently down a burrow refusing to come out. Most of my friends don't understand how I can enjoy standing in a cold field waiting for a rabbit to bolt, but if they see the hawk in pursuit I'm sure they understand. hopefully I can learn more about other types of hunting too here, so he
