    I shoot a lot of brown hare with an Anshutz .17HMR. Deadly accurate with Hornady V-Max. Most are taken between 90-150 yards. Kills them fine with both head and shots to the shoulder. If you look about you should be able to pick up Hornady V-Max for under £10 a box (50) no problem.

    For me the short barrel wins hands down. My 17HMR has a 14ins barrel as does my .22LR they are much easier to use in a truck and handle better.Both are super accurate. I've been told that you loose a few feet per second but the stuff i've shot with my guns hasn't noticed a jot! Both calibres have more than enough power to do the job intended. You pays your money and takes your choice as they say.

    MEOPTA Meopro 4-12x50 on my Anshutz 1417G XIV, great bit of glass for the money.

    I shoot both a Beretta Urika 2 and a Benelli Rafaello. There isn't a lot between the two but i prefer the Benelli as it's easier to clean and low maintenance. Recoil is heavier but not a problem. It's really well put together and flawless once you work out what cartridges it likes. Mine like anything in a 70mm case and is fine with most 67mm.

    Stealth ghost summer/stubble camo netting. It's lined with a fine black mesh. It's harder to see oncoming birds through it than say scrim but IMHO the best net there is. Search google you should find plenty of places selling them at about £35.

    I hear these are being discontinued. Eley aren't prepared to pay Realtree anymore for the use of the brand. Eley are still making a 30g 6.5 shot pigeon cartridge but it now comes in a red case.

    20 bore is ideal for shooting pigeons. I use 1/2 and 3/4 choke in mine with Hull Sterling Game 28g 6's. I get very few runners it's either a straight kill or a miss.

    I use Hull Sterling game 32g 6 shot in 12 guage and the same in a 20 bore (28g 6's). Very good consistent cartridge.
