  2. dats nealy it for another season

  3. i used to use an ortovox last year and it was the worst locator i ever used. A mate of mine had one too but it broke on him, he sent it away to get fixed and it broke again two weeks afer he got it back. Mine also broke but i wouldnt even bother geting it fixed..went and bought a BnF instead...there the only job!
  4. would preferre a mixing dog myself....would rather digg a fox out rather than bolt it
  5. only used ferrets for bolting rats twice...its gud crack tho! but herd that ferrets can get a bit jumpy n snapy whill working rats. but goodluck anyway
  6. bolted a big polcate hob once but he must of been lost of a while because he was too wild to catch! never been luck enof too bolt a squirrel tho! wel done
  7. sounds like a good bit of ground you've got there. nice pictures too.
  8. hello everyone. ive been a member of this site for two or three weeks now so i think its about time i introduced myself. im from ireland and im into digging and ferreting! i have a young pup i got at the start of the season which is 15months old and ive dug three foxes with him so far and i hope to get another three before the seasons out! i also have an older dog which i dug five foxes with so far! i have four ferrets and try to work them also when im not out with the terriers. i also have a 1/4 bull 3/4 greyhoung cross lurcher bitch which i do a bit of lamping with.
  9. i was talking to an other member of the forum today and he was telling me about a post that was put on the terrier section where members put up picture's of their dog pens so i thought i would start one for the ferreting section to see what sort of hutches are out there. so please post picures of your ferret hutches. thought i would start it of by putting up a picture of my own.
  10. most times it depends on the dog! if u have a hard dog sallow digs are normally prefered as you can get in2 the dog quickly and in turn gt as much hunting out of him threw the season as possible....dnt want him lying up for weeks at a time! if u have a mixer u can go for the deeper digs + if u have a strong enof dog u will have faith in the dogs ability to hold the fox...der is nothing worse than diging down maybe 5 r 6ft and the fox getting by the dog and having 2 dig al over again! bt at the enda the day if u want to test ur dog a deeper dig wud be the way 2 do it! also deepends on how many
  11. personally i wud rater a mixer to a barker r hard dog! wud rater get a dig than a bolt nyday bt saying that its nice to c da lurcher gt a chase even if the fox gets away! the ideal dog is 1 that will watch itself in a hole...1 that uses its head...n u can wrk regularly! my type of dog sud do more barking bt have the strenth to put a fox to a stop end..and mix well [bANNED TEXT] dug over nd broke into!...dnt like 2 c a dog that is bullyed by a fox in a hole..the dog needs to let a fox no that he/she is in charge! dnt like to c a dog that can be called outa the hole...i tink i shows dat da dog i
