  1. thanks for that supersam thats the way that i say it also my brother was coming out watching me fly mine. and my mentor gave him a loan of an imprint male to fly and he did a good job with him. flew him for a few months no bother. yeah but you did it with a mentor who was also flyin a gos My first bird was a parent reared male gos, it would have been a harris but couldn't afford one , goshawks were cheaper then! Didn't have a mentor, just library books,So it can be done, mind you I had 25 years of looking after a multitude of other animals including birds, having said that some
  2. You don't want to be doing that mate ! even saying it is totally inappropriate and irresponsible.
  3. A tip for you mate, get some stronger wire on the pen with that silver hob in, by the look of that bottom corner it will be out soon. Mike.
  4. It's a good idea to soak the dry food for kits mate, it makes it easier for them to eat a good amount. Mike.
  5. I've been bitten properly by my albino ferret when I tried pulling her off a dead, ferreted rabbit up after I'd gutted another rabbit with bloody hands.. I mean proper savaged. Repeatedly bitten hard enough to tear the skin, not a bite off a playing kit.. That's one mistake I'll never repeat again... Saying that, she was a c**t for biting until I got over my own fear of her biting me, I was nervous and she knew it. Getting into the ferret court pissed up at 4 in the morning to play with the ferrets after I was locked out worked wonders in that respect.... She's been an angel
  6. FFS, grow some balls and get on with it you mardy arse ! It's a kit for gods sake! I was once shook like a wet rag by an enormous scrap yard Alsation,am I scared of dogs, no! not a bit.
  7. never had any problems, ferrets love it, could,nt do with out the stuff, atb jamiew What do you use it for ?
  8. Never used the stuff, never felt the need. Mike.
  9. That,s why I like the polecat crosses, it gives them that bit of an edge I remember the proper workers of the old days seemed to have. Mike.
  10. Ha ha, I've owned dogs that have died of old age before you were born mate, Feckin Kids!
  11. Thanks bud. The important thing here is the welfare of the birds and NOT money, Right person, right price and all that !! I know mate, I had three to sell, sold one already, but turned a lot of people down so far for the other two. Not letting them go to numpties at any price. I'd rather give 'em away to the right folks than sell to the wrong uns, Mike.
  12. I know mate, your right, but if it saves a dog from being past from pillar to post and the lives of a few ferrets ,where's the real harm in it.
  13. I stopped one ! don't all start! it was over 30yrs ago and I didn't know any better at the time. Working Russell with a touch of bull in it, got out , ripped front of cage ,killed a big hob. I thrashed the dog with the dead ferret! then tied the dead ferret round the dogs neck to drag about for to days. After that the dog wouldn't look at a ferret. I used to sit it down to watch holes I couldn't see, knowing it would come and find me with it's tail between it's legs if the ferret showed out of my sight. Not proud of it, but it worked.
  14. Good luck mate, I've got 2 an'all, there's a lot about at the minute! mike.
  15. What's the other 3/10ths then mate.
  16. I just copy and paste the address in the bar at the top mate.
  17. Seen one up here in North Wales 2 years ago , never seen one here before or since, I think they a more common down south, seen loads when I was in France though. Mike.
  18. Nature don't do ferrets mate, they're already man made ! Nature does polecats so according to that theory you should be working polecats. And without folk "messing around with genetics " there'd be no domestic animals whatsoever. May be you best rethink your opinion. Wild black footed ferrets are fictional then are they?? Might be called a ferret mate but it's got very little to do with our ferrets , it's closest relative is the Siberian polecat. and
  19. This attitude of keeping animals alive no matter what, really pisses me off ! Do the the right thing for them , you and your wallet, cull them. Vets really love this attitude and milk it for all it's worth.

  23. Need not be all bad, just coming off permission one day and this big 4x4 comes roaring up ,out jumps a big bloke, says "I've been watching you flying your bird " oh yes I said ! anyway he says he's got some land up the road covered in rabbits and I can fly there any time I like. So off I go to have a look, it's down the end of a long track, on the way back to the car, by now it's getting dark, I see a 4x4 turn into the track, close behind a tractor swings across the track and blocks it. The dog starts to growl behind me, another two blokes are following me up the fields, get back to the car an
