  1. Not worth the risk of kenneling together. Working together. . . . no problem!
  2. Yer come on. . . . don't rely on a piece of technology. . . . . . . . . . . . like a lamp. . . . . . a filter. . . . . . . . . . a fox call. . . . . . It goes on. We're hardly hunting them with spears.
  3. Millet - I'm sure that's pretty much what folk could have said about the birth of lamping .....
  4. Yes mate, she has come on very well indeed. I was just commenting to JB earlier that there has been a marked difference in her the last couple of trips, much calmer and more settled. She is lethal around cover as well, very little escapes her. I'm starting to quite like her to be fair
  5. Cheers lads Yer it was some real good running to watch
  6. Bloody hell that's good going matey! I only ever lose collars lol. Nice hob? Yer, we spent the first four hours trying to find rabbits on land we'd been asked to do as it was 'over run'. . . . . . I think someone is seeing things! Need to check with the lamp. And spent the last three hours digging. So only had about two of actual ferreting! The highlight of the day was when one of my jills went awol, trundled off up the hedge, unbeknown to me or J.B. Anyway, all of a sudden a rabbit flies off through the hedge further a long, followed by two more. The dogs who were hovering ove
  7. Once again, been very slack and havn't bothered writing anything up for weeks, or taking any photos. . . But had an enjoyable day out today, where, for a change. . . . it didn't rain! JB and I met up with a friend for the morn and checked out some new land, then did a bit on another place. Had a good day, but had five digs to nests, which slowed things right down, and I don;t think we'll be at it with the ferrets for that many more weeks . . . . Ferrets worked well as always, and the dogs had some great catches. Not the biggest bag, but took the majority in two hours, and spent the
  8. Was due ferreting this morning, and was out yesterday early doors with the dogs, so planned an early night. Local farmer had other plans, as he'd lost a lamb. So got the gun and went up to the farm in question, early ish, about half ten. Took the dog for company. Sat out, called a bit, nothing doing. . . .went for a bit of a recce, had a look down the valley and there was a big dog fox sat in the hedge of the neighbouring farm. Called a bit but he was wise to it. . . . . So no luck there! I'll need to arrange perm on the next farm and to come up in the day. . . Anyway, as the wind
  9. Could have been worse, could have had your Adidas classics on. . .
  10. A friend woke me up at half six Saturday morning, appearing at my door, dogs in tow. Do I fancy a quick hours bushing? What do you think? Had some good hunting and some good runs No action shots, just a few of the dogs. And back for breakfast . . . .

    Ukrain

It is a VERY unequal country, very corrupt, lots of dodgy politicians and gangsters and always under russias influence. The difference between rich and poor out there, and the quality of life they lead is nuts. But I'd say the biggest difference is that they have got a history and culture of not taking it and kicking off. . . . where as we accept the shit and carry on. . .

    Ukrain

It's like some kind of post apocalyptic vision. . . . And it's Ukraine.
  14. Man's man? Some man's bitch? No thanks.
  15. So this is going to be the latest excuse for the killing of milky does and leverets. . .
  16. No nose We were checking an earth today and the whippet disappeared, following a line from the woods, across the fields, nose down, tail up, right to the far woods. . . . and to the fox that wasn't in the earth, but was lying up in the ivy and branches of a fallen tree. . . . There were five other dogs that had missed the line. . . . all good hunting dogs.
  17. Yer mine lives in, and I couldn't wish for a better house companion. Also he could find game anywhere, and most of the time he's the one that finds first. Never had a dog hunt like him. Him and my hound are a handy team. . .
  18. Aye, same here. It's dogs for jobs . . . But the whippet keeps on surprising me . . .
