  1. It was the result of that mate, he's very lucky to have four legs, so I can live with what he's got, and to be honest he has just adjusted a bit. I give him a good rub down, and massage with some liniment, and he's due in with the bone man again soon, to pull him about. He's never been a fast whippet anyway, he's just real powerful, but as he's a whippet, even lacking a bit of his speed. . . . he's still quicker than anything he needs to catch. He's doing about 30mph at the end of the video, and he can go a bit more if he needs to Cheers for the comments, he's a handy enough dog
  2. That's the whippet col! Trench - He does ok for me, if you watch closely you can see from his gait where he damaged a back leg badly, and also a weakness in a front shoulder from another injury. He's still plenty fast enough and can run all day though, regularly does 20 + k on the quad no sweat. And that's one of our few flat fields! It's all hills here boyo!
  3. Just messing about with the quad the other day.
  4. Remember this....????? This was taken the day after he came north from Wales.... IMG_0919.jpg Aye I do, and I remember seeing him as a wee pup, and he stood out immediately then, and it was a good litter all round. Funnily enough I saw the lad who bred them last week at market, and he's had good reports about all of the litter. Can't wait to see him in the flesh as an adult. Roll on autumn. . . . .
  5. How much would that kind of thing set someone back out of interest?
  6. Well. . . . . You're right big man, he's really shaped up now. Turned into a fine specimen, nice frame and good bone. He'll do a job for you i'm sure
  7. A game bred bull terrier is a world away from any other breed of terrier. . . . . Folk seem to blend together drive, gameness and tenacity. . . . . . . which are different things. Out of interest nl, what would make you suggest that the beady would have greater drive than the pit?
  8. You guys are all stars! It looks like I might do most of the fencing myself, or all of it. I've got hand post rammers, bars, fencing tools, a tensioner, and also use the winch on the front of the quad to tighten the wire. I also think I may be able to blag or rent cheap a post rammer and tractor. Also agreed to swap something for a job for a couple of days, so probably i'll manage. We'll see. Stewie - Your a legend for that offer mate, I think i'm ok, but if I do need it i'll give you a shout. Kev - Also a legend - and i'll be in touch, i've a stock trailer, and another smalle
  9. Cheers for the figures. And thanks for the offer of help ULG, you're a gentleman. I've done a fair bit of fencing myself, both when we used to run a fair number of sheep, and on the shoot, but to be honest I'd just like a really good outer fence, especially as one side is the road side fence! But if you fancy coming up for a mooch about sometime, give me a shout!
  10. Ok. . . I've got electric fencing. And that's useful. . . . But i've just bought a piece of land, which I now want to fence off, from the surrounding area, permanently, to allow me to do various things within that fenced off area.
  11. Tomo - we have had boar on the estate here, enclosed by electric fence and they are smart enough the figure out that it doesn't actually hurt them, the domestic pigs don't seem to. But i'm after a proper boundary fence.
  12. It's stock fence i'm wanting. Normal height, preferably with barbed wire at top and bottom. Also it's not flat in places and it's not clear, but I will be clearing a track around the outside as best as I can where the fence will run. FM - Yer, I currently just make a paddock, using posts, wire and sheeting and run barbed at the bottom. Not had any problems, but I'm just wanting to fence a whole field in, which will have smaller bits fenced off inside. A border fence I guess.

    Fencing!

So i've received a fair bit of flack for my fencing I usually do all my own fencing, but I need a fair bit done. . . .. and done well I've had a few rough figures, but I know there are a few lads on here that do it, so was wondering the rough price? Per Meter? It's about 3 acres I need to fence, in a kind of oblong shape? Any help, much appreciated.

Didn't get the job mate, got down to one of a couple from hundred though, so was happy enough! Might as well have a wee project for a bit and it was a sound investment.

    Well . . . . . I got the land!!!
  17. Well . . . . it's lasted since yesterday Seriously, the outside is strong enough and as long as they have got plenty of rooting to do inside the pen they are pretty calm. It's when the forage runs out in the pen they can get a bit of a pain!
  18. Will do. Growers cost about 20-40 quid. Weaners 5-20 Saw a real nice Tamworth Boar sell today, bought 11 months ago for over 500, went for 130 today.
  19. They have closed aber down and opened a new one, out in the sticks. I was there last week for the sheep sales. They sell on a Monday and Wednesday. Fod- I should do, and also some saddle back and some land race x pie train.
  20. That's a dividing fence thats seen a few lots of pigs. . . . and has been battered to shit! The outer fences are better and all have runs f barbed wire at the bottom. And the bit that appears to be flapping about in a couple of the picks is actually a loose bit of wire i hung on the fence.
  21. f***ing brilliant mate, I just laughed light a twat
  22. Went to market today to buy a few store pigs to raise for meat and have a look at some poultry. . . . As always I didn't quite come back with what I set off to get I did get a couple of nice stores, Gloucester Old Spot x's to rear on for the freezer. . . . . But also came home with a nice pedigree Saddle Back sow, and her seven weavers Didn't get any poultry as I couldn't fit anything else in the trailer, but was sorely tempted by some nice geese for £2 a go, and almost bought a pen of hens for 50p each for dog food. . . . . but felt bad as they were nice lookers. . . so
