What the fukc are you on about ? ........ Lol No need to be ignorant.. Ok what is that statement meant to mean ........ I think he means that although folk may disagree with each other, its better to be reading a debate such as this, than another, what shall i call my puppy? thread. I'd say Plummer did a lot to falsely hold up the collie x as a wonder dog, but then it was all a marketing campaign. But some folk just like collies. The first two dogs I ever hunted were both straight collies. They also worked stock, and were general all round companion dogs to me as a kid.

Nothing amazing but a few hundred acres with a few pockets of bunnys here and there. Should manage a run or two if you're game

No worries mate, you need any directions etc, or numbers J.B and I should be able to sort it out. It's a nice river, it runs past the mrs house, or neat enough, and through the town i went to high school in. Spent plenty of time exploring it one way or another, but never course fished on it. Never course fished anywhere though

f**k me. . . .I can just imagine it now . . . . 30 blokes. . . . accents all over the shop. . . . dozen assorted mutts. . . . .scottish bloke with an air bag strapped to his kipper . . . . mcdonalds employee with a spaniel . . . . the bloke out of eastenders. . . . a welsh midget . . . . dog the bounty hunter and jesus. . . . . getting stopped by the local rural plod, dragging a lump of meat through the woods. . . it'll confuse the shit out of them

Don't mind Bob, somewhere near the comp I suppose mate? I've still got to sort the kids out yet, I thought it was the 23rd, and the missus is away the 17th weekend, so I'm hoping the parents will sit for me. Monmouth is near mate, and hay on wye isn't a million miles away

I really did consider that stig. But in comparison to pigs - Pigs clear the ground faster, and also turn the ground over, getting out the roots ands breaking up the soil, whilst fertilising it. They need less fencing than goats. They don't need to be shut in a shed every night. They are ready for slaughter by 6 months, and there is a ready market for them. They also produce larger numbers of young on not much more feed. And they are less of an initial investment. So all in all, the pigs won. Coupled with the fact that the mrs doesn't get as attached to them as

Thanks for that buddy! I'm going to A.I my sow when she comes back into season. . . . and it'll be the first litter I have bred. . . . so i'm sure I will have plenty of questions for you! Much appreciated

I have a feeling this weekend is going to be quite amusing . . . . Out of interest, is anyone bringing a mutt? Also, who is coming down friday night (if anyone) ?
-
P.s - Yes the mrs does all the hard work. You should see her reverse a stock trailer or put up a fence . . . . . she's a keeper

Cheers Raw. Thought I might have scared you off yesterday with all my yacking Aye there is lots to do. Was up there today cutting back some hedges and repairing the fencing, and banging in some new posts. Bit of wire and it'll be the veg patch. Well. . . . it'll be the veg patch after i've put the pigs in to clear the bramble, then rotated it, built raised beds and a herb spiral, some compost bins.. . . . . . and eventually a small poly tunnel. Think i'll let the mrs loose on the planting, I just like the manly stuff The area i've put over to vegetables is going to be about 2

Aye, that's very true. To be fair, I got a dog with collie in it because I like dogs with collie in them. Not because I was under any misapprehension that it was some kind of magic ticket. But I didn't get a straight collie x for a variety of reasons including some of those that you have mentioned

Knife - check. Someone text Bobby.

I've never been course fishing a day in my life! But it's all good fun. To be fair, you can't escape as easily on a pond, its easy enough to hide on the river. If you win malt / kev - the sea fishing is a banging idea. Ow - we going up the woods on saturday morn then? Get something for the bbq
-
Well it's going to be interesting anyway. Up side this year is everyone fishing should have a good chance of casting. We will all pretty much be in sight / hearing of each other, as its not a huge pond. No jetskis

Your a gentleman , I'll fill two bags from the volcano for the trip lol Aye. . . now that sounds like a plan I've just had to Google what the f**k you two are on about..... It looks like a lidl food blender lol Mate of mine had a hands free adaptor for one, for the car, so he could vaporise whilst driving . . . . . . . Without breaking the law

That's a much simpler way of looking at it . . . . . But what about the saluki? Am I going to end up with a plodding, bunch crunching, jacker? Or am I going to end up with a smart dog with drive and stamina? I'll let you know this time next year
-
Well Scott - the locals are currently battling a Mcdonalds plan for monmouth. . . . . the nearest currently is about 15 miles away. I will take you when you are clucking lol.
-
Thats fair enough. Looking forward to it now. Only problem is, I think my kit is a bit heavy for the venue, but I`ll give it a crack. No boilies over 10mm and barbless only... Just hope that I bought banger holds out Yer i'm not sure how pig the lake is, but its not huge!
-
Your one sneaky b*****d lol And he's sub-letting it to me I'm sure the both of you will be very happy It's got 4 beds Scot . . . . . I'm thinking of rigging some cameras and doing our own THL Big Brother . . . . .

Ok I think I agree - On that willow pond (which we are renting) - no one to fish it until the Sunday. But other ponds are there if you fancy a cast. J.B and I might go up and check out the place in general for a day and fish the two smaller ponds. Get up there saturday ago / eve, have a good knees up, maybe go to local pub etc. . . . Then fish Sunday daytime for the comp, finish at a set time, and have a prize giving, raffle, bbq etc in the field on the Sunday eve. If folk want to hire out the lake and fish sunday night for their own fun, or a sub night time comp lol, the

See I wouldn't say that a real heavily collie blooded dog is necessarily easy to train. Some of them need far more patience, and a quieter, slower approach than some other breeds. Just going from what i've seen. Out of interest, where do you get the idea that everyone on here thinks that collie x's are some kind of magic wonder dog, and they are all the rage. There are far more bull x's and beady x's on here than there are collie blooded dogs. . . . . . and even more lurcher x lurchers. They really fell out of fashion for a while (at least in the public eye) but the collie x will a

Not very. Could be on the wye ten mins after you leave the lake. We just couldn't get anywhere with enough pegs, or anywhere we could camp near enough to not drive.
-
I guess thats something we need to decide. We can have it Sunday night for £50 quid I think (the lake). And fish right through. Or just have it Sunday day. . . . Not sure if the comp is a one day thing? And other fishing is extra fun is folk want it. Dunno. We're looking to camp in one of the farm fields, or on the wee campsite he has by the fishing lake. Certainly be better Saturday night, also we can have a BBQ etc in the field, with less hassle.
