Hi bud.I can tell by your post. You have never put in the time and effort it take,s to bond with a good dog:thumbs: You can tell all about someone's life and history with dogs and by those four lines? Jog on

A lurcher is a cross bred running dog that contains both pure sight hound and a non sight hound breed - i.e collie x greyhound. A tumbler is a sales pitch by Jeff Burell.

How is it wrong to have a split? There were good working ferrets for years and years and decades and decades and everyone was quite happy with their ferret being an albino, or a poley or maybe a sandy. But then one day some folk decided that they wanted 'prettier' ferrets and so it all began. Mind you i ended up with a silver jill that's a cracking worker, but she won't get bred off.

. . . . not everyone would.

Aye mate - if shes killed one lot i'd just give her a bit of space for a few days and when she's settled in to being mum have a wee look. How long since she had em? Best of luck with them anyway.
-
But if she's already eaten one litter i'd maybe not trust her so much and just leave her to it.

Going to take FerretMadDee out in the coming season for her first taste of ferreting - hopefully she'll be another convert!

Its as simple as the fact that some folk don't like seeing a load of dogs treated like shit in order to have them churn out as many pups as possible to make a load of cash. And others don't give a f**k about the rest of the dogs as long as they get their pup out if it and it becomes what they want.

I've always hunted on my todd, and what i've found is, their are some really decent people in this game, very willing to help a fella out with a pup among other things, i detect a certain snobbery and a fear of having one pulled over you in some posts on this thread, Picking a pup from handcock also shows a little inexperience of the lurcher world ,and the hancock bought pup seems like one way of addressing that lack of knowledge, and dealing with lurchermen, The fact that people are still buying out of his yard, after all these years, probably says more about the state of the lurcher world r

This attitude of keeping animals alive no matter what, really pisses me off ! Do the the right thing for them , you and your wallet, cull them. Vets really love this attitude and milk it for all it's worth. i totally agree its extraordinary the measures some people will go to to keep an animal alive i am all for people who take any animal to the vets if the problem can be fixed & the animal has a good quality of life .. but if the prognosis is poor them why the hell prolong it ferrets with leg /spine problems rarely get fixed ... i couldnt see a ferret dragging it back e

Aye beware flies - feed at night and just put in what they are going to eat. Ask about on here and i'm sure you could fill your freezer full of cheap / free game.

These guys are f*****g dicks - my mate bought 45 acres of woodland off them. They split woods into small unmanageable pieces and have cornered the market. To buy from them will cost about 4 times what the same land would under private sale. Also they restrict what you can do there A LOT. Your best bet is private sale.

I would carry - A ferret box A Net bag A Game bag. Purse nets - either hemp or spun poly A quickset long net - 25 yrds. A spade A locator (mrk3) and collars. Water and ferretone for ferrets. Just noticed your in Gloustershire, i'm not a world away in south wales and have friends in Gloustershire that i come and visit fairly regularly. If you fancy a day out in the season to see if you like it, give me a shout.

so i can get odds n ends from a butcher?? Yep! Or you could also try members on here - always plenty of folk looking to get rid of rabbits in the season. The best thing to feed is whole (or part of whole) carcasses, as these include many additional minerals etc, from the bone marrow, eyes, fur etc.

Out of interest how far was the dog from where it was stolen?
-
Well you seem to be doing a good job of sticking up for him to say you dont support his business maybe he his a nice chap still no reason to buy a pup though. Its not about sticking up for him, I gave my honest opinion on what I saw and how I was treated etc which in some respect differs from yours and the others wingers, mates who went once view on him and his dogs. Your just winging like a jillted lover about one puppy peddler, most dogs are bred in puppy farms these days, supply and demand dictates that weather you or anyone else agrees or not with it. The fact remains people l

If she is nervous i wouldn't take her out with another dog. Work on that stuff first, plenty of time for her to start chasing rabbits - worst thing you can do is force it on her,
-
Jesus mate, i'm sorry for you. RIP Roo.
-
I wouldn't bother flicking it's nose mate - it will just end up associating you with getting hurt. Just make sure they are fed, and handle them - they will eventually stop. You can also use ferretone. atb Jai.

Fair play - so good to hear of someone finding their dog! Congrats mate and well done total lamper!!!

There will allways be people that dont like what we do no matter what it is we do, be it hunting, fishing or even bloody knitting (not that i knit) its the way of the world im afraid and we have just got to get on with things and feck what everybody else thinks glad you seen my point. but what other ppl think leads to bad press Aye i see your point but you know what i mean. If you've been around the hunting scene long enough you know just how many thugs and wannabe hardmen it attracts. There are a lot of folk that hunt with dogs that i think are proper scum. I hate that by having a
