  1. I'm not so sure mate, as i've said, although my whippet is obviously fast, I don't find him as 'nippy' as some of the smaller ones, but he seems to be able to run a lot, lot longer on the lamp without any noticeable tiring, also if I want to work him several nights / days on the bounce he doesn't lose condition, which I've seen happen in the smaller dogs.
  2. Ummmm. . . . right, this is just my answer before anyone has a go. I find that he takes knocks better, and he has had some serious knocks. Also he seems to have better stamina that some of the smaller, lighter dogs i've seen, albeit not the same pace or acceleration maybe? Probably better top end. Not that I've ever found him lacking in speed. He takes the cold and the wet well, doesn't lose condition too much with it, or with hard graft, and I've worked him in some shitty weather in some shitty places. He can go all day. I think that if he was shorter he would struggle to see som
  3. I see what you are saying, but I meant, the need to get removed from the site rather than merely not logging on, is because when deleted, your photos go to.
  4. To be fair, there did used to be some cracking threads in general that made you laugh out loud. But i'm sure it will come back around, it usually does.
  5. I have a whippet that is 22" and weighs 40lb. I wouldn't want a smaller one.
  6. Surely the issue is more to do with their content on the site?
  7. At the moment we have been looking mainly at Ontario and British Columbia.
  8. In my experiance, it's horses for courses. Seen some terriers really come into their own, mainly in tight spots, brush piles etc. Also they often hunt at a more frantic pace. However, they do often burn themselves out, don't tend to speak as well, or run a line as well, and more importantly for me, require the use of a shovel a hell of a lot more. We've got a spaniel, a hound x and a couple of terriers here, and their different styles are noticable. R.e - pushing game out too far with the hound x's. If we are doing small spots, bramble patches, etc, she can be worked close and resp
  9. There appear to be subsidies and grants available for certain types of agriculture etc.
  10. Me and the Mrs have been making plans. . . . . . well, half plans. For 150,000 or less you can get 100 acres of land or more, with a house, good fishing and not far from a town. But the question is. . . . hows the hunting?
  11. He wanted it more than you that time.
  12. from some of the pics iv seen,as in rows of shot pheasants he may well have been, although ryan could probably put you straight on that cheers If it was bred by whom I think, you have done well
  13. Very nice looking chunky pup. Wasn't from a keeper was it?
  14. I do. The price depends how bad you want it, how bad others want it, what its like, where it is and what you are using it for. For example, around here you might get some sheep grazing for £70 per acre per year, but horse ground might be £200 per acre, and it may be more for something else.
  15. Zerky - Spain. Boar Hunting. Quite probably beer involved. Ask Unlackedgecko or Dogsnnatives.
  16. Well it really is the very least I could do seeing as you have so kindly donated your services as a stockman. . . . P.S You left your horn.
  17. Ok ok, I've thought long and hard about your advice Eric, and took it all on board.... We have decided to call the hunt off. In fact most of the lads are now giving up the dogs all-together. Thanks again mate, Bye Free to loving pet home, 3 x terriers and 1 x lurcher. All 100% jackers. Who needs those jackers, I hear you have three belting pups waiting in the wings
  18. Ken - I am gluten free, so will have plenty of stuff, inclufing home made burgers and sausages for the bbq, amongst other things
  19. I think people are realistic to the facts that - - We may not catch the boar we are after. - We may break a dog (or more). - We may find our dogs are not as thrilled to tackle a tusker as we hoped. - We may end up bleeding ourselves. - It will be graft. But also - - We may just catch that Boar. - We will definatly catch a few bits and bobs. - It will be an entertaining experiance for dogs and men (and woman).
  20. How are those pigs matey? And you're right, its a nice sound, at least when its not near your birds haha.
  21. My hound hates guns, if someone gets one out she will stop hunting and come back to me. . . .
  22. Managed to contact GTE by phone and have sorted it out. Thanks for those that helped. Only 3 more lots to sort out now!
  23. To be fair Paulus I've not really kept abreast of the goings on of THL, or any other site, and i've not had chance to speak to JB in a while. Our birds went to wood on Sunday, so i'm over worked, over tired and largely failing in the humour department. . . . oh and the Buzzards are well and truly off my christmas card list! I just thought that as the Auction etc was quite a positive thing on THL, that the powers that be, may have been slightly mindful of this when they went OTT on the big red button.
