  1. Shoot a fox like that by me, and you'll get an OBE lol.
  2. nobody said they don't kill them mate just nine of us have seen them kill, have you ever seen a fox kill a lamb? . Chill out and go and shoot the bloody things. Sorry, at that point this morning, after bagging up dead lambs. . . . . I was not very chilled. The farm manager was out the other night on a spot that lambs have been going missing. Sat in the field with N.V and saw four foxes coming in around the sheep. One pair were actively coursing lambs round the field, trying to trap them and nail them. Needless to say all 4 got whacked. But what they normally do is wait for the e
  3. Bollocks, they 100% kill live, healthy lambs. If you lamb outside, foxes are a problem, but so are fecking badgers. Picked up two dead lambs this morning, born at last light, both healthy, well formed lambs. Chest cavities eaten out. Raging. Edited to add - You know how much it annoys hunting folk, when people who have no knowledge of the country, and hunting, pass judgement and form opinions? It's the same with farming. Boils my piss when someone who has never kept a sheep in their life, tells you that something doesn't kill them . . . .

  5. Here's something for you to think about. When they liberated Mauthausen Concentration camp, they found, carved into the wall of cell block twenty, by a prisoner, the words. . . "If there is a God, he will have to beg my forgiveness"
  6. What was the working life expectancy of working lurchers in years gone by? Even with the numbers, how hard was the graft, when there were rabbits everywhere and they were not hunted as much? And. . . . are you presuming, that the dogs of those who advocate good feeding, do not see as much game as they dogs of days gone by?
  7. Can you imagine the temperament beast if it threw wrong. . . . . utterly psychotic.
  8. or just say nout . That's why we have the Irish wolf hound My money is on the wolf.
  9. I have half thoughts of breeding from each of my three, at various points. . . . whether it will ever happen though, is another thing all together. Wouldn't mind getting a pup out of the whip, or at least getting his blood on the ground. It would either have to be to a decent small lurcher, or possibly even my collie. Want to replace him, with a similar little mooching / ratching dog, handy for bunnys, ratting, ferreting etc. He will be six next birthday, so time is ticking on. Have started to think about breeding my young bitch one day, maybe three years from now. Would look to put a

  12. Be another one to add to the list lol.
  13. Aye, wouldn't be without her now! Blackdog - That lot are a mix of 'Easycares' (hate the name) and another shedding composite called 'Exlana'. They have been bred down from all kinds of things, there is lleyn, mule, texel, all kinds of shit in there. They are a good maternal ewe that sheds its wool. They went to a maternal tup and a pair of Charmoise.
  14. Socks - Got her a few months ago, half way through training her.
  15. Couple of things that jump into my mind. You would be extremely lucky to get a very good dog from a rescue. You may get one from a man who trials who may be honest about why he does not want to keep the dog. You may get one from someone giving up, thats a good un, a friend got an excellent dog for bugger all from the widow of a keeper. Not ideal I know, but thats how it goes. If you want it to be a good dog, kennel it away from the mrs and kids.
  16. Well, thought I would just do a wee update. Things have been ticking a long here nicely. Lambing starts in about a week, with 40 odd ewes in lamb. Also sending off four pigs on Tuesday, with another four going a week or two later and another brace following them. Have been selling a bit, and having great reports, especially from the sausages, which are cracking. I've got duck eggs coming out of my ears lol. I've also been given some more land, and may end up with a good bit more on top, so looks like the sheep will be expanding. Ive done the math, and also enjoy working with them

  20. I think I do. I had forgotten, but you;re right. To be fair mate, that's probably the nicest shaped young dog I've seen on here in a good while. Looks like it's got power and speed. . . . and that's what you need.

  22. It's got bugger all to do with size. . . . . Some animals don't like getting hurt/bit, it's just that simple. . . . . maybe they realise that the quarry isn't food. . . . and don't think its worth it. Getting bit by a fox doesn't hurt a small dog any more than a big dog.. . . . . In nature, for the most part, unnecessary injury is avoided. . . . . In some dogs, we've bred that right out, other we haven't.
