  1. Fairly sure there is a member on here that once upon a time had a cocker that would kill foxes. I believe she may have been dug to a few times as well. . . . . .
  2. Seen all manner of gun dogs used for it. They will pretty much hunt anything, it depends on the dog, what happens if they catch up to it!
  3. I don't mind them, in fact I really like them. I just like them best when they belong to someone else That way I can watch them run without having to live with them. But a first x collie / saluki could be proper nuts.
  4. That bitch of yours was a cracker, I was looking at some photos the other day.
  5. Chid. . . . . with that cross, you are either going to get a very interesting useful dog. Or an absolute twat of an animal, that makes you want to shoot it, you and quite possibly everyone else. Or a combination of the both. Speaking as a man who owns a dog with both collie and saluki in her. Somewhere within lies true madness Wales12345 recently described my bitch as a very good worker but an absolute c**t. Which pretty much sums her up.
  6. I wouldn't class a lurcher x pure breed as a first cross. The thread title is "ultimate saluki lurcher". He then proceeded to ask which first cross you would use. Which raised my question, what makes him think the ultimate saluki lurcher would be a first cross. Fairpoint I don't like salukis or first crosses. . . . . . so I don't really have an answer.
  7. He didn't he said what would you cross a saluki with to make "the ultimate first cross saluki lurcher". Which would kind of rule out a lurcher to lurcher bred dog. However one could argue that the cross you mentioned IS a first cross. . . . . . although not a half cross. It would be first cross between a saluki and a collie/bull/grey lurcher. So your answer is 'a lurcher'. No need to thank me. . . . . . .
  8. As said, know of a good whippet based litter (hopefully) coming up in South West. Might all be spoken for though.
  9. One thing that really damaged a lot of our ground, was that real bad flooding we had, it killed a lot of them and made breeding etc very hard.
  10. Aye, i'm sure lads looking for internet fame probably don't help
  11. Some fecking muppet with a rifle most likely. I love the way people assume its sabs, as if there aren't people that moronic who hunt Awesome way to make it really hot for the rest of us. Cheers whoever you are!
  12. Or are the young keepers doing it just to keep the dog lads off the ground maybe?
  13. Got her as a 6 month old pup, never done anything at all. Now she's my right hand girl. She's just a natural, and it was a case of bringing it out and polishing it up lol.
  14. About 18 months mate. She's coming on well.
  15. You know what bird, its made me realise how easy it is for them. If you pull up by a field with a stock lorry and in ten mins round up the sheep with a couple of dogs and go on your way, even in broad day light. . . . . how many folk are going to stop you? Unless the farmer drives by, in some remote areas you'd be fairly safe. Lucky i'm an honest man TF - Wouldn't mind crossing her with some form of sight hound one day.
  16. Same been wearing aigle parcour 2 for the last couple of years, I absolutely abuse my kit, and they are still going strong. Been worn on all terrains, in all weather and doing all forms of hunting and farm work. . . . . .. . can't fault them!
  17. 3/4 beagle, 1/8 teckle, 1/16 russel, 1/16 cocker.
  18. The last bit of your post, is I think related to the cold war. When I moved to Eastern Europe, I realised that every video, film etc i'd been shown, was grey, cold, dull, depressing, bread ques, hard faced women etc etc etc, it was all a left over affectation of the cold war propaganda. When I arrived and it was 30+ degrees C, there were lots of hot women in bikinis, and everyone liked a good drink, some good food and a good dance. . . . . . I realise i'd been duped!
