  1. The thing is, there are many folk who do break the laws on hunting, and do so in a respectful, and quiet manner. But effectively the 'LAGBI' is saying that these people are damaging the lurcher world, and that they wish to distance themselves from such lurcher owners. If it all came on top for me, and I was caught, doing something that broke the law, and also broke those codes of conduct, even if I myself could hold my head up and say what I was doing was right by me and my morals, just unfortunately against a stupid and unjust law.. . . . . . i'm not sure "LAGBI" would want to stand up for me
  2. Does the "LAGBI" effectively concur that the law is correct and that those that break the hunting ban, however respectfully are 'bad lurcher men' or 'negative' for the sport?
  3. I like to think that whatever shit occurred in the line of hunting, I'd stand by my mutts. . . . . . not leg it in the opposite direction, hoping no one could trace them to me.
  4. which part is that Jai?pm if you prefer Pm sent. I'm probably being petty.
  5. Having read the mission statement, unfortunately I would be breaking the code of conduct. Doing something I don't deem unreasonable. . . .
  6. suppose to have them chipped here in the north nun of us do it,if plod stops we say the dogs up here on trial from dublin were it not legal so the border comes in handy, lol what if out coursing and dog goes on motorway causing mayhem ,goes in among sheep and starts mauling match and its chipped to you yer fooked.lol Aye, brill. . . . keep a sheep killing dog. But its grand if you can scarper and not get the blame. . . . . .
  7. Does make you wonder. . . . . not sure how many folk on here i'd trust
  8. When you say live both sides of the fence there are more and more straight going people choosing street justice over law enforcement these days like i say all areas have a few looneys people dont need criminal associations to find such people and its probably due to weak judges and poor sentancing as much as anything....let me ask you this Wilf.....lets pretend im a violent man....if you knew i had a bee in my bonnet for shoplifters for example........would you consider it grassing to give me the name of a shoplifter knowing im going to iron him out .......or can a person only be described as
  9. I agree with the last statement mate but can you tell me the difference between reporting someone and grassing someone ?Why would anyone want to "report" anything? More people need to mind their own business. The only exception is child abuse. And then I can think of better solutions than ringing someone. Ok. . . . .I accept that you and many others would quite like to come across like some kind of ninja vigilantee hardman over the internet. . . . . But lets face it, in many cases, those that observe these kind of things, genuine wrong doing etc, i.e child abuse, animal abuse et

  11. As said, in this case . . . . no. It won't help the hares, and it won't help the sport. But in general, I hate the morons who think reporting anything at all is a grass. I believe the classic thl line on the topic was something like "grasses are as bad as peados". . . . . . . if you think like that you need to take a good look at yourself!
  12. To be honest since I've been working nights I've been at the bushing job every day. Haven't got a bushing dog yet, but the lurchers don't do too bad a job. Especially when I'm out with my mate and his 3. We have 5 dogs spread out hunting up the reed beds etc. It's good crack and doesn't matter so much if you can't get out lamping as often. I do still like a shine. But it's not the end of the world if I don't get out. We do our version of 'bushing' 2/3 mornings a week. Give it 2/3 hours each time, and the dogs are soon fit and it gives them an all round mental and physical work o
  13. The one thing that would put me off. . . . . is there as so many 'lurcher men' who I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. And feel that I have nothing at all in common with, besides owning a faster than average dog.
  14. Good to hear! I think i'm getting the same cold. We will have to catch up soon, but both dogs are broken.
  15. Tom - Got a ticket for a .17 here for exactly what you are looking to do with it. Recommended by local FAO. P.S You ever need any of those reds sorted, I will quite happily spend my nights wandering around! Hope you, wife, dogs and sheep are well.
  16. Two broken running dogs and a broken owner. . . . . sitting in the house in front of the fire, eating a curry. At least you CAN go out. Quit your whining.
  17. Some interesting thoughts. I think I must be soft, and no where near as 'hardcore' as the 'super hunters' on here. I quite like having permission, being able to turn up, park your motor somewhere sensible, have a good nights lamping without looking over your shoulder or getting it cut short. Its also quite nice being able to do some things which may not be sensible off permission at times. I also quite like being on good terms with the farmers and having them ring me to come out and sort a problem, or make me a cuppa. Its even quite nice when you find bottle of wine or whisky on the bonnet of
  18. I do seem to remember in the not too distant past discussing the fact that everyone heading to the dales and lamping f**k out of the place. . . . might have a negative effect on the rabbit population
  19. My lad had one brindle brother, and one blue brother, rest of his litter were black. He and the damn of this pup are black.
  20. Yes, both doing well! My mate is a little bit gutted as he really wanted a bitch, but that's life! Be interesting to see how the dog turns out! Not sure about the other litter.
  21. Funny you asked yesterday, the old whippet bitch was due in a couple of days time, but had her single pup this morning. A lumper of a brindle dog pup apparently!
  22. Had her in the vest today to check the stitching etc following the operation. Especially as the nutter got away from my old man and ran up and down the starers, jumping on and off the bed etc Restricted movement they said Bloody dog! Anyway, they reckon its coming together well, and she is one of the toughest dogs they have seen, in that she has never seemed phased at all by the injury. I'll try to take a couple of photos of it tomorrow, its fairly unbelievable that she is as good as she is (still a long way from being ok!) and not dead or crippled. . . . . Was looking at a couple of
  23. No, I'm shit with dates, but should be in the next week or so for the whippet and a little later for the beddy x. Fingers crossed!
