Further Update On New Lurcher Association
Ideation replied to Dewclaw69's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Ive a question. Its NOT a dig or criticism before anyone starts yelling. I was thinking earlier on and wondered your thoughts. The LAGBI aims to promote a positive view of lurcher work, hoping to ensure the future of our sport by improving the public perception of hunting with running dogs. Right? And part of this will be having members conduct themselves in a legal and moral manner by following the COC. Another part will be educating those new to the sport and those who do not know any better and who's actions show lurcher work in a bad light? Right? How do you do anything oth -
Looks a nice little bitch. Maybe some more info on her temperament / manners etc might help? I.E recall etc.

Preventing Poaching In The Uk
Ideation replied to CH-SUK's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Without wanting to drag up the debate again. . . . . I'd have to agree with TF in that one of the best things about large sporting estates, is that generally they have a consistent management policy in place, which promotes bio diversity, and improves habitat for all creatures. Odd little examples such as - on the estate I used to keeper, the song bird population was amazing, mainly due to the fact that predators (i.e squirrels etc) were controlled and many many tons of wheat was fed out of hoppers / the spinner etc during winter, when the native birds often struggle. The acres of -

Aye....that's bollockswhy?why Aye....that's bollocksWhy?Because they do own it....whether you like it or not. I've no problem with poaching wild game.....different story when it comes to pheasants though that someone has worked hard to rear and some c**t comes along and thinks there easy pickings.exsactly...a keeper is worth one thing....his birds.... the second he falls below standard with his birds he WILL be in the firing line..what if he has wife and bairns? what happens if your curs running thru a wood causes the birds to desert it? causing a drive to fail? causing percentages to fall? t -

I agree with it in the sence someone had worked for their money and bought the land yes t agreed with woodmans comment on how land really was years and years and years ago all claimed and never really belonged to anyone No but there were a shit load less people and probably more 'survival of the fittest'. . . . . these -

Exactly God put them there fora reason no one owns a wild animal Wild??? Pheasants??? Deer parks? Etc. Big difference between poaching some bunnys etc and a lot of other stuff, some poaching does basically involve robbing someones stock, taking their assets etc. Not saying don't do it, that's your call. But you've got to accept it is what it is, and not try to make out the keeper as an arsehole if he catches you and batters you! You can hardly blame them. -
Yes mate, pure unadulterated shite.

Quick. . . . . . there's not been any digs or arguments. . . . . . better have one asap! lol.

Was out lamping one night and heard a rabbit squealing across the hedge. . . . thought it was a fox so nipped round to get it. Lamp on. . . . to see a rat killing a rabbit!

House Lurchers, Work As Well As Any Kennel Cur,s
Ideation replied to swg dave's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Ive got a good set of kennels in the garden, and I live on my own, no mrs living here and no kids. Ive one dog who lives in all the time, but used to be a kennel dog. To be honest he was a hard dog to build a bond with and after having an accident and coming in for a few months, we built an unreal bond and he became a more useful worker for it. He has lived in the house for a few years now and his prey drive is as unreal (and annoying at times) as ever. Its also useful having a guard dog. . . . no one gets though the door without him going mad. The other dogs are sometimes in the house, in the- 77 replies

I told you that even though she's gay she'd probably make a good dog I blame the hex mate. . . . . its her pup

nudge nudge I wouldn't turn down a day out that's for sure But I wasn't fishing. . . . . we just mostly hunt thick woodland and forestry, and it's a rare treat, pushing stuff from cover out into the open to get a shot, rather than just pushing it on and on through cover, hoping to stop it or bag it as it crosses a clearing / ride. Different parts of the country, different landscapes, different hunting styles. That's what makes it interesting.

Good day out mate. I'd snap someones arm off for that kind of ground to hunt
-
Looks good mate! You making them to sell or just for the fun?
-
MONEY! Sell the rights to shoot a small number in order to pay for the protection of the rest.
-
Ummmmm they are small, escaping, slow growing, awkward little sods? At least you'll get to know your neighbours Although if they are a small flock, they may well be pretty tame. Chuck a charmoise over them and you'd have some decent meat lambs. And they should come out of the soay without splitting them in two!
-
Seen places where it's much easier to catch them on the lamp. Also seen places where it's almost impossible to catch them on the lamp, but you stand half a chance in the day!

There are more pet lurchers than workers now and as said people can go pick one that matches their living room paint scheme. Also, there are a hell of a lot of uneducated folk out there. This site is but a drop in the ocean! I expect there are probably plenty of folk out there still feeding ferrets bread and milk.
