Different ground all over england matey. Go somewhere the bunnys have not been lamped much and where there are lots and lots of them, in smallish, well fenced fields, with rough grass . . . . . . . . easy to kill plenty. A golf course bunny is fast as feck wherever the golf course is. . . . . . .

Yer, its the 'Anonymous group'. . . . a pretty handy bunch. . . . . Jok - because in todays world, the internet is a very powerful tool for the terrorists. . . . . and when a group that is capable of out smarting the government and military web based system etc, decide to get involved. . . . they could do some really interesting stuff. . . . . .

any other man has just a much rites to poach it, Aswell as you ye no Im not sure if you have misunderstood what I have written??? I never debated anyones right to hunt or poach that land. . . . . But I just wouldn't go sticking it on the net. . . . if they haven't got the desire, drive or brains to go find it for themselves, or from their friends and hunting partners. . . . . then do they deserve to know??? Next you'll be calling me an anti or something I don't give a rats arse, many lurcher men I wouldn't have feck all to do with. . . . . . . . they cause more grief to

Am I wrong though??? We live on a small island full of idiots. . . . . . . . . those wild places where the game is a plenty and the hunting is good, need protecting. The average person who wants to go and 'smash da f**k' out of the place and plaster photos over Facebook. . . . . . don't really do those kind of places much good!

What a monumentally stupid thread. . . . . I know, lets all put up the best hunting spots in the U.K, so that every moron on the internet can go and either kill it off or make it very hot. You never know our luck, might be able to make it as shit as the dales. . . . . . . . If people are not smart enough or willing to put the hours in to find these places themselves, . . . . . . why the hell would you want to help them a long? As a hunter, you should look after your land. . . . . . whoring it out to the Facebook brigade. . . . .. isn't looking after it.

SPOT ON,,, IVE TOOK LADS ,,,AND TO BE HONEST SOME HAVE NOT ADD A BLOODY CLUE,,,BUT THEY HAVE SHOWN THERE FACE AND ADD A GOOD NITE OUT,, Jim - You know that me and you have not always seen eye to eye. . . . . . but from what I know, you work your dogs hard and give them the best care, and you are a damn good host. So what more can a man say on the matter??? I don't understand where the agro has come from.

You lot need to get a fecking grip. It's only catching a few bunnys. CHILL OUT!

Brilliant reply, thank you very much. Its interesting to hear that not everyone in the U.S goes at it mob handed. Ive had experience of hunting them with finder/bailers and finder/holders and a bit in between. They are one hell of a quarry and I don't think many people really 'get' that without first hand experience.
-
Totally different on different ground. Done some rabbit lamping from a truck, dogs got more runs, worked harder than they would on foot.
-
The simple fact is if you were trying to cover 1000/2000 acres or more on foot looking for particular quarry. . . . . . you'd be a long time walking!
-
Very handy in the right places, more ground covered, more runs, impossible in others and the potential for you to be a massive bell end if done badly . . . . probably sums it up.

Getting The Kennel Ready For Willows Pups
Ideation replied to Snifferboy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Awesome stuff mate. I'll be down in a couple of weeks to come see them They have had an outstanding start to life and are a credit to you! -
Unusual for an American to do it that way, its usually way too many dogs, both bailers and holders. What made you go for stags? They are nice dogs, but that black bitch seems quite racy? What kind of weight are they and height? Also what kind of ground are you on? And is it more day or night? Sorry for all of the questions! It really interests me the different ways different folk (from different places) approach the job.

Who said kids should be allowed to run around with guns ?????? The article is about a 13 year old boy who had access to his mothers gun when she was not there. Unfortunately many many many teenagers are not exactly rationale in their thoughts / behaviours.
-
Yer all teenage children in the U.K should have free access to fire arms. . . . . it will defiantly make society much much much safer. . . . . . .
-
One dog to do all the graft? I'll take whichever one doesn't get injured!
-
Both very nice, but I like the black.

No mate, you did right. At the end of the day its just your job to fix the electrics. You can always expect a certain amount of hassle etc off funny folk, but pure aggression and its time to walk out the door, that's not your problem, if its stopping you from doing your job or you feel in danger then you walk and the boss should understand. And I don't think your boss would like the outcome if you didn't walk away to be fair matey Especially if you hadn't had your lunch yet

Never heard of a whippet capable of 50 a night and if it was the norm whippets and big numbers why would people bother with lurchers......reckon i must live a sheltered life....but as ive said dog must be a good un well done I certainly wouldn't get one running the kind of land you run matey! They seem ideally suited for small fields, rough ground, in and around cover etc etc.

Tomo / omanya - I don't want to detract from trevs post by debating on his thread. So this is my last post on the matter. I probably over egged it a bit, I maybe should have said a good whippet should happily do it, if the bunnys are there. I've seen a couple capable of doing 30/40 s although om might debate that they were / are proper pure Whippets. Both were / are dogs around 22 inch. I guess there are probably not a lot who have done it, but how many give the dogs the chance or have the game? What would you expect, the whippet to jack after 15 bunnys??? Why would it? And I still think on go
-
I wouldn't say that was out of the question for any decent whippet, providing the ground is right and rabbits are there. It'd be a poor excuse for a sight hound if it couldn't manage 40 rabbits if they were there to be caught. Well done Trev, looks a good night

What a quality post.

Thats an interesting thing, isn't it, that some dogs will listen to anyone and other dogs no one but their master. My lot are generally aloof, odd, anti social b*****ds. . . . . . and if taken out by someone else, would either bugger off to look for me, or just go off hunting on their own. However, I've met some dogs that would work me that weren't mine. Once years ago, I went up north for a days ferreting, taking my whippet and johnny boys gem, I picked her up the night before, she slept at mine without a worry, jumped in the truck in the dark, drove the length of the country, got out
