You have ten fields in a row. . . . each about 50/100 acres. . . . .
You are looking for a particular quarry which mate be in one of those fields. . . . . . or a couple.
You can walk across / around each 'empty' field, stomping a long in the dark, dog on slip, step after step after step. . . . . . .
Or you can drive around the empty ones, get to the ones holding your chosen quarry, pull up, dog out and slipped (from hedge line).
Whats wrong with that if its perm, just saves a lot of walking empty fields for bugger all.
As for 'lazy' I've lamped bunnys on big arable land (
