  1. i have a bitch of this cross and was takin her out as you did at 9/10 weeks, after all you dont put a kid in school at 16 yr old. every brain in the world learns more in the first 1/4 of its life. but also see the advantages of waiting for bone/ muscle structure to be as developed as possible. plus your pup will have the summer to sit it over and think about his roll ready for next year. WILL make you a very happy owner and glad u chose this cross im sure
  2. fair lay guys, nice to see there some bunnies about still. strong lookin pup and very good cross im my books
  3. hi all im am looking to plant a bit of a coppice in and around a new pen but not sure what trees/ growth to plant. any ideas please ?
  4. " tus" can you recall the site you got the info off ? I will try give the Starfire cd a try if I can find it as I have had a quick look on google with no luck. And thanks for the response
  5. I brought a cocker pup 6 months ago and he is now 8 months old, I have trained him to the whistle and he is showing some real talent and excels at working. Only problem is he is very nervous. Especially with loud noises. I can get a friend to shoot a starter pistol about 200m away with no affect and I can get about 50m away from my friend, then my pup starts to stop working and comes in very close to me. Any suggestions will be much appreciated
  6. anyone in the herefordshire worcestershire area fancy a walk one night?
  7. well done lads good on ya, and cracking lookiing dog, we also went out last night but only drivin round in the truck with the 2 dogs runnin alongside, there was a bit of mist around our area tho, but not enough to ruin it and had 12 altogether couldn catch the unlucky 13th as was gettin too foggy too fast. keep it up ratter
  8. i started entering my dogs to the game as soon as they had all their jabs and were willing to tag along ( so very young ) letting them do wt they wanted, just like you would a baby, wouldn stop it crawling or walkin if it wanted to, enforce the correct and deffo the bad behaviour it showed. but i neva let them see to much too soon, they were following me lamping at 3-4 months old, and started running when they wanted to. where as my [bANNED TEXT] neva entered his pup till 11 months and there 3 now and with these litter m8s it shows starting off early was deffo better, and he has now started his
  9. yeah the main problem is that its in a area with a fair few houses and other small orchards so shotgun is a no-no as well as .22 rifle, plus im struggling to obtain permission from neighbouring land owners so ferreting would be a bit risky bein on someones land with no permission, not that its makes much difference when the big light in the sky goes out, but its good rabbit ground and would like to keep permission there. i have nea used long nets befor tho. so would possibly give that a go
  10. i have been asked to get rid of a fair rew rabbits on a small holding, on arrival farmer showed me around and all the rabbits were very tame and couldn give a shite about us and my dogs. so decided the best methord was with the air rifle, after having about 25 over the course of a few visits they started gettin shy, then moved on to running the whippet x during the day and night, after havin a few more and seriously pulling the numbers down there are still a massive amount about, having a look around i cant see many holes where the buggers live so ferreting aint much of a option. any ideas gre
  11. my first pup i owned took him out with a decent dog and just let him do wt he wanted to, the second time i took him out he was running and striking at rabbits. that was at 4 and half months old, and since his second trip out has not stopped catchin, was a true natural at the game.
  12. some places i go the rabbits ara spooked easily so i use a green filter as they show up clear as day and give a better beam for the dog ro run down or around! just my view.
  13. would defo get a whippet x, i got a 3/4 whippet 1/8 jack russel 1/8 beddy, he is perfect for wt i do and also very keen on the rats, wont go wrong with a whippet cross [bANNED TEXT].
  14. considering flint08 is your relative and you used to lamp with them all the time i'm surprised you've only seen the litter run once. and you'd expect the dog to be watching the beam as they've been out since they could walk. the time is obviously showing in the dogs ability as we all know flint08 could make any dog more then average. for a boy whos only been keeping dogs for 3 years you are a fountain of expert knowledge, who apears to know it all i did wonder my self mate,so all the imformation your have gained about bull x and german sherperd x is not yours but storys you have hear

  16. i'm expecting mine to make that height.with a bit of bulk. yeah mine aint to bulky, holds his own agaist the bigger dogs and gets stuck in.
  17. i run a small 1/2 whippet 1/4 beddy 1/4 jack russel. only 18 tts and he dont half shift, unbeatable agility im my opinion, use him for all sorts of day and night work. think the 2 crosses of terrier give him that extra fire in his gut. would deffo get another if the right one came along.
  18. i personally work my dogs off the lead, however when new dogs are around they tend to try and get a head start. nothing a quick whistle dont sort out. trigger, you still up for going for a walk one night ???
  19. yeah few of my mates have/had them and they are great dogs. how tall is yours and do you know her weight. mines around 16tts now but hes only nine weeks, not to bad she is 14 months old 25.5 tts and think she is around 55lbs
  20. i have a bitch which is preety much a alsation x greyhound, but is not a first cross, believe she has a bit of collie in the mix back a few generations. she is everythin a need and more, a very good all round dog, and thinkin of mating her next year if i can find a sitable stud.
  21. sounds like one hell of a crack, always up for puttin my dogs to the test against others, not because i think there brill but like to watch half decent dogs work, but would be well up for a shot at it tho.
  22. i used to go out with a friend who worked one and on more that one occasion it would catch a few on the lamp due to sitting on the hedgerowe and waiting for the lurcher to run the rabbit to him, not the slowest dog a have seen lamping by far either.
  23. just wondering how people operate their dogs when out lamping???
  24. First cross wat though???? All your lads going on about f1x carnt have seen meney different type of lurchers working. seen enough to put my opinion on this thread
  25. has defo gotta be a first cross, not sure about a malamute x tho. wouldnt mind seein one run tho, would be very interesting!
