Ah the fighting irish a breed close to my heart. i lived in the north for a few years contracting a long time ago, Clones game fair was allways a good day out fighting dogs, chickens and men
-
hearts are very rich and will cause the shits, a little bit every other day wont hurt just chop them up and freeze them in seperate bags, take them out when you need them and yes feed them raw

Well ive struggled on for almost a year now with a gammy knee and just lately its been torture but the op is getting closer so im happy with that. coupled with that two years ago i was flattened by quarter of a ton of grass cutting machinery so i have a constant case of glass back which is liveable but during the winter its always stiff (Our lass wishes it was stiffer... )Wey hey!! But this week has been really bad just walking, so tonight im buying a bottle of vodka and getting hammered. So apologies now if i talk shite later on.(Nowt unusual there i hear some say) And

Why do you choose specific breed as female over male
stroller replied to Bigshrimp's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Anagallis i will seek you here and there if ever i need driven to drink before tea time? There are some clever buggers on here -
i would say that generally small dogs are better at turning because of low centre of gravity and all of that physics stuff but the best rabbit dog i ever saw was a nearly pure greyhound 29" tts and man that dog was amazing. it was an irish dog owned by a lad who truly did not know what he had So in answer to your question yes little dogs are generally better but there is always an exception because dogs arent machines and some of them have just a touch of magic

black rocks and copper marans are god layers but look like crows i like the isa browns friendly and if free range you can call them in on a night with a slice of bread. We have to chase them out of the house the buggers are in the dog beds and on the work tops

I would go the other way on i think the best breeding comes from the dams lines, ive seen this with terriers, lurchers and gundogs. but why i have no idea. the saluki breeders on here have some real knowledge of bloodines maybe they are best placed to give an opinion? -
show us ur best pics of the season

Funniest moment seeing my lad catch a rabbit that bolted out of a wood pile straight up into his arms. thats got to be a once in a lifetime thing. -
mine mainly get chappie dry food i supplement this with whole skinned rabbit once or twice a week, eggs and gravy. i have tried all sorts but they eat this with no scouring and i have one fussy eater who will eat this no probs. i find the gundogs dont do well on high protein mixes i dont know why? all of the pups i rear start on chappie tinned food with tinned sardines eggs and a calcium powder supplement up until they start to grow out their knuckle then i get them onto the dry stuff. i find lurchers the easiest of all dogs to feed cos generally they are the biggest theiving dog dustb

Does it matter? if you like the dog just work him anyway and if your hunting is legal why get yourself tied up in knots about it. i worked a terrier as a bushing dog for the gun and lurchers and she yapped like a b*****d but we knew what was coming and where it would break cover. who knows it might even stop with enough work and a few of the tips given here. Good luck with it and try not to get to stressed the dog wil be picking up on that as well

Whats her breeding mate? she seems taller than a whippet hybrid would be at that age but it depends on how she is fed and exercised as well as genetics. A photo might help
-
you could be right mate i dont know much about genetics or this dogs breeding its my sons dog and it suits him, but it isnt for me. but ive seen more mediocre collie xs do better than some of the best salukis. but my sport isnt hares on big fields. Give this dog his due he does mark warrens and he is a good sporting companion and he can jump over the moon, he walks to heel sits and stays on command and is a briliant dog in the house. but he hasnt got that consistency of a true grafter if that makes sense

half bred collie over her or maybe a half cross kelpie or australian cattle dog, to give you three quarter speed with some brain and hopefully good feet and coat. You have a good attitude to breeding for your own use but remember pups are F.....g hard work so dont sell your self short make enough to help with your expense and time, Wheatons, bulls, salukis etcs are at the moment popular but for a good all rounder i dont think the 3/4 grey/collie can be beat. i have five dogs at the moment or i would take you up on a pup in fact im stil tempted........ i can hear the wife sceaming a

Riohog i have followed some of your threads and they show an enormous depth and range of knowledge and your red dog is a stunning animal, equally so i will wait with interest to see how your pup does, not with the view to knocking yours or its efforts. your a true dog man and there are few enough of them about even on sites like this. Thanks for the respect shown to my opinion. In return you have mine

Mate i have a first x bitch and for months i couldnt tell how she would turn out. one day she was all kelpie the next day you could see the long dog in her and on other days she looked like a labrador!! she grew from this to this handsome is handsome does

Heres my lads 1st cross salukix grey beautiful dog and he can catch if you give him two days notice and several hectares to run his quarry into a standstill. i personally love this dog to bits but he is the last one of his breed we will have i dont rate them going on the performance of him and others like him. Im sure the saluki snobs will shoot me down but they are quite a moronic breed. my next door neighbour has 3 pure bred dogs and they are loopy. i have experience of some of the arabic breeding (i lived in the middle east for a while) and they are as equally numb. but then again i have se

That thread on the mountain cats got me started and as ive said my arse would fall out if that came into the beam i wouldnt be able to run as my wellies woud be full of shite, maybe the smell wuld put it off??
