Took the dogs down the back of me this morning its a bit of a wood and a lot of whinneys, the saluki x and the labradoodle bob can jump the moon but little mags hasnt done much jump training so i thought i would see if i could get her over wire this morning. put the two big dogs over with her watching and then boom over it she goes cleared it by a foot no stopping her now, she is jumping for fun jumped a fence on the way back getting under a strand of electric fence which was a foot higher at the same time. once into the whinneys the dogs went mental there are a few pheasant in there

Interesting that mate, my kelpie x is murder on my other dogs when they are out she is constantly working them she drops and gives them the eye like a collie then rushes in snapping at their legs. her re call is excellent on her own but with other dogs she insists ondropping and waiting for the whatever dog to ome in before she comes in herself. on a good day its fascinating but in the pissing rain at five thirty in the morning when my bak is playing murder its annoying. she hasnt started climbing on their backs yet but who knows what she is capable of the little cow!!

chimp every x has its fans ive had collie xs well over 20 years its horses for courses. but in general you do get fashions in every walk of life not just dogs.
-
its just a fashion seen it all before bulls have been popular in the past as have collie s as have salukis as have deerhounds, they have their place as all of these and other crosses do and i think the bull x appeals to the young lads a bit more cos they are tough looking is it true that Nike have called their latest range the lurcher man??

poacher yer a miserable old git , we can always rely on you to run some poor b*****d into the floor live and let live man, puppy farmers will always be there its a fundemant of the society we live in, supply and demand etc as long as they put out healthy dogs its up to the owner to bring em on. how many posts on here have told the story of rescue dogs that have turned out good and f**k knows where they have come from??? no bad dogs poacher only bad owners

ive trained pointers for the gun and they are headstrong so the above advice is good, re inforce this training with rabbit skin dummy in a controlled environment, but he needs to know you mean business and that doesnt mean a kicking, if you dont keep him under control he will be an absolute b*****d by the time he is a year old -
skinned and gutted then frozen for 3 days at -18. this will kill any thing nasty

Wild rover you have eyes like a hawk lad, its and old one from last time out mate it was just a scratch not too deep. I didnt gut the last rabbit until after i wrote the post and it was a pregnant doe so that just confirms the end of the ferretting season for us. As for the ferret Lawrence well i might just take your advice and hang on to it over the summer season and see what happens. ferrets are queer little things it might pull round if not it will have to be shipped out. Thanks for your comments lads i enjoy writing maggies early trips out it might help the younger lads see tha

Havent been out for a couple of weekends due to weather and work but this morning was beautiful so i boxed up the silver and polecat ferrets and with Maggie now 9 months old headed off into the day. Maggie is marking like a veteran and so far her record is 100% if she says there is a rabbit in the set then there is a rabbit in there somewhere. A couple of easy sets about twenty yards apart to start with. I netted them both up trying to keep the noise down to a minimum and trying to keep mags at hand rather than let her hunt on by herself. In went the silver jill by far the best young f

ive known this for years there was a documentary on it about twenty years ago. i always make sure the puppies are injected but never bother after this, never ever had any problems using this approach -
FREE TO GOOD HOME PUPS(or do u get what u pay for?)
stroller replied to Endgame's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
A big ethical question on breeding puppies has been highlighted here. i suppose there have always been breeders who want just money and will sell to any numpty with the right amount of cash, but in my youth good working dogs were bred to continue the line and were homed with friends and relatives in the village or surrounding villages (Pit vllages not picturesque cotswold thatched roofed places.) This way the pups growing up were often topics of conversation in the clubs and pubs and so a good line of worker was kept going. but there are too many litters of lurchers that turn in -
Is the leeholme show on this year?
-
Raby was absolute bollocks last year badly organised but a lovely setting, if they could organise it better it would be a great day out. saying all of that i will probably still go along to see whats happening cos its on the doorstep and i will be frightened im missing something
-
nothing around here yet but it wont be long before the b*****ds are back at my new chickens which i will be getting to replace the last lot they killed. its hard to leave them alone when they kill your stock i understand lads wanting them left but its like rats once they show their heads they have to go. there is a big old dog fox thats the size of a spaniel knocking about the village he is first on the list

labs are quite a heavy dog so probably not the best first cross for most people even though they are willing workers with brilliant noses, a few lads are running gsp and gwp lurchers these days they seem to be an excellent x

i love greyhounds mate used to run them at tracks but they used to get skin tears all of the time where i used to hunt so i never kept one as a truly hunt only dog im pleased to see one doing the job, absolutely stunning dogs and more brains than people give them credit for. i quite fancy a pup now i wonder if the missus would notice another one

lovely dogs lads and lasses, its good to see people proud of their dogs. i get f****d off with the try em and sell em on brigade
