  1. Thankyou i will let the Missus know. Jet is definately a looker and maggie is a demented psycho but both are all out workers jet does the job he does very well and maggie is my ferreting dog and that intensity she has is amazing to watch when she is working. at the minute she is pulling rabbits out of holes before they hit the nets it takes a bit of getting used to but ferreting dogs all have their own style.Jet is all sighthound but he has a brilliant nose when bushing and he has the best turn ive seen on a big dog
  2. Just a few pictures of the lurchers in the snow The Missus took these yesterday. Jet and Maggie flying Chase me! Chase me!! Manic maggie trying to get jet to play This is a typical ferreting pose one which i failed to get last weekend!! Maggie doing the collie thing Jet is saluki x greyhound a few times over and mags is kelpie x grew

  6. Good luck with it John i was out this morning for a few hours got five and netted up a hedge set and made the fatal error of missing a bolt hole. This is gospel truth but i watched 13 rabbits leave by this hole it was behind a chain link fence deep in the hedge the little buggers were laughing at me
  7. i caught and gutted a rabbit this morning with loads of white fat the most ive ever seen on a rabbit. it also had had its ears bitten off probably by its mother when a kit. but maybe it was a really fat rabbit because it comfort ate because the other rabbits laughed at its stumpy ears??
  8. jammy buggers i had just been talking to the old cripple on the phone about roofing slates and he mentioned he was after that bit of land......good work lads
  9. Fifteen years ago lost my hunting partner to cancer, gave up my guns and turned my back on a way of life i loved. it took a while but i came back round and now im back at it, it will never be the same as it was but nothing ever stays the same.

  11. Its wor Jackie good old Ashington lad he could play a bit of footie as well but he wasnt a patch on his brother Bobby, 1983 f*****g hell im getting old!!
  12. Young ferrets tend to not travel through the warren but f**k about near the surface, try them with an older more experienced worker they will follow it about until they stumble over a rabbit
  13. Nice one matey im out tomorrow morning on very small fields on hedge sets im hoping its a dry morning nothing worse than scrabbling about under pissing wet hedges
  14. Just watching my little dog try its heart out every time i ask her to....i couldnt put a price on that
  15. i was brought up near a length of beach in northumberland and we used to hunt it regularly but these days its become a national treasure and its hunted less with the end result that rabbits have blitzed the dunes with burys so many i wouldnt know where to start! literally hundreds of holes within twenty yards.Pest control needs to be done but the do gooders are up in arms if they see a ferret or dog people walking past tutting and saying its bloody cruel when the rabbits are eroding the very dunes they walk on!!, anyone else had this experience?
  16. Thanks lads mags is a kelpie x grew. it was short session and to tell you the truth it wasnt maggies best effort but i couldnt get annoyed with her, she is a little smasher a bit odd but a good worker in the making
  17. Due to being skint and having to work more or less 7 days a week i havent had the little dog out much. But Sunday morning i had literally 2 hours to spare before i had to be back home to spend the day with the missus and some friends on an organised walk.It takes 30mins to get to the place i wanted to try so i had literally an hour to ferret a few holes which was risky to start with if i had a lie up i was f****d!! The fields were bouncing with rabbits and the little dog had a few runs and got close once but the rabbits were playing with her they see my mate and his collie every day so the
  18. try a bowl of chicken and pasta no sauce or gravy if he eats that he is just fed up of his old food and just needs a change
  19. is that black one the whippet ,bull x saluki, ridgeback you have been importing from wales?
  20. i was chuffed to watch this video socks as my little bitch is the spitting image of yours and works the sets just the same way. it also pointed out to me that my training has worked and that i have a little dog that is doing the job right. it was a pleasure to watch more so because i see the same thing every time im out with Maggie
  21. i have a little dog here who would give tegan a run for her money on the rabbits. great video and a classy little dog
  22. I have a little grew x kelpie, plenty of speed and hammers rabbits day or night just starting out really at 19 months i bought her mainly to be used as a ferreting dog. i dont know if the father was a working kelpie or not but this little bitch is all work absolutely nuts. ive done obedience and agility work with her and she is a very clever little dog but hard work with other dogs and takes time to get to know people. i enjoy her drive guts and determination but she isnt laid back enough for the missus and if she isnt exercised well enough she is a bloody nightmare. Not a dog for the first
  23. that black and tan is spliting double of my sons dog
  24. it does sound like parvo to me and also if it is lepto it can be passed on to humans and be potentially deadly.
  25. How do you know how good your dog is if its just used on the lamp? or just used to ferret? i agree breeding has a lot to do with potential in a dog but its the owner that discovers the potential through giving the dog experiences. and its the owner who enhances the dogs experiences by providing care and training. As always with dogs and men its a joint venture, a journey of trust, ability and understanding. i have my little dog to use with the ferrets but she was out a few times last week just around the doors with my lad on the lamp and got her first rabbit on friday night. it doesn
