  1. Haven't really been able to get out much for the last few days as the ground has been so wet round my way you couldn't walk on it. Finally managed to get out and have a wade along the river path last night, dogs were loving it and I haven't been out with the camera since before the start of college so I took LOADS of random pictures
  2. Isn't there a chap on here looking for a small collie type dog Gaffer? think the post is a bit farther down in this section

  4. I guess the organisations like cubs brownies is basically teaching some fieldcraft skills, but it stops at filling something with lead or ringing your quarrys neck In places like Norway, Denmark etc they have countryside schools that thier kids get sent to or they have people go into inercity schools to teach kids how to dress game, skin, butcher deer, quarry and wildlife ID and all sorts
  5. Well I binned that thing I made yesterday, just looked too big and clunky, more like something you would put on a staffie than something that is potentially meant for a potential Deerhound cross, potentially So after a bit of faffing and using some smaller gauge rope It looks better, works better and gives a bit more room for adjustment if its needed Cheers Pete
  6. Starnge isn't it, it is socially accepable to ram religion down childrens necks and brain wash them with rubbish but its wrong to allow them to make up their own minds about what they do out of school as a hobby!
  7. cheers mate, thats what i like to hear, they were recommended. Top notch service mate, my old dears, while I was away, ordered a collar for my old lurcher from him a while back and couldn't get it to fit, they were sending collars back and forth for two weeks and never a problem, shame they didn't just measure the dogs neck first off
  8. 's not covered by cites so shouldn't be illegal, bit odd mind!
  9. Had several collars from him, top quality gear at a very good price, my big lurcher has been wearing his collar from Blackdog for four years now and its still going strong and not a stitch out of place
  10. Oh i've got a heap of wood work tools etc just nowt to work leather! Have binned the lot now as it was looking like something you would see on a bull cross and gone back to making a lead out of a larger gauge rope!

  16. Yeah for the bigger type that pull like trains! Trouble is i've only got my 26tts dog here so it fits him a treat but i'm not sure how it will fit a dog with a bigger neck! will probably take it all apart and start again after lunch Some pics of it on my mutt
  17. I've been thinking of having a go at making a padded/wide/some how better version on my lamping lead for a bit now and seeing as i've had a greyhound collar that never gets used floating about for some time now I thought i'd have a fettle about and see if I couldn't come up with something workable. Any how after a bit of mucking about and taking it apart a few times this is the prototype so far, its a bit rough and i've quit smoking so no lighter to melt back my tag ends and had to use matches instead I dont have the kit for stitching leather so had to use nyl

  21. Take great note of what hyperion says..... Well good luck buddy!! I take back what I said earlier. I'll be in my second year there in September so i will see you about. It'll be worth it and don't sweet about the age thing, im 26 and married and feel like a old man sometimes with the younger lads, lol. But they are a great bunch and remember this you are there with like minded people and all have one thing in common, you will learn just as much of the other lads and lasses on the course as well as the course itself. Keep your head down and work hard but most of all enjoy it. Well don
