  17. Done! the epoxy seems very rubbery though, never used it before, take it it will harden overnight and then I can sand it off the handle and blade?
  18. Bet? what bet? Yeah I use them for lamping and they are bloody brilliant, those two are the first ones I made so have changed the design a bit now as I only had what an old boy near me had explained to me about making them to go on.

Ha ha ha ha ha I was thinking that too, would like to get my own forge going one day too but having to take two years out of work to do a college course has taken its toll on my cash flow so that will have to wait. Just going to go for an oil finish as thats all i've got about at the mo, will either deepfat fry it or give it a bath in some hot linseed
  21. getting there, almost ready for epoxy and a final shaping, as luck would have it me old mum broke one of her favourite niknaks yesterday so some epoxy is on its way I did ditch the oak in the end it just didn't look right
  22. Practice with any old twine to start with, jute garden twine is idea for learning the ropes with, nope point wasting good twine on practicing, be prepeared for sore hands when you start mind
  23. Fresh air at the mo, might ditch the oak to be honest and just shape the beech into the guard for the blade
